  1. Glad to say Sean I've still got my Bileo and Bill Williams. Records that always remind me of Mike Godfrey and Cleethorpes. Think Mick had a good few through at the time too. Good to see The Pretenders getting talked about - Quality! As mentioned big all over but always reminds me of Clifton Hall and Poke. C/U as "The Quadrophonics" by Arthur and Mario at those small room early Modern Soul do's I seem to recall...
  2. Tony, Allan Harris is Allan Harris and Perpetual Motion... It was C/U as "Inner Space".
  3. I used to love this despite the immortal line "Kids at school used to laugh at me 'cos of the patchy pants I used to wear"
  4. Dave I'm surprised you remember anything from then Good Dayers though - I took a minibus there once which got broken into
  5. If its Sammy (Neil) Salter he's looking for that's my brother - I can put him in touch. He goes to Kings Hall occasionally and tells me Spud is definately still out and about. Not sure about Ray.
  6. Absolutely dreadful record i(Nice Sax break but that's about it) - if any one wants to buy one pm me - think Nev Wherry used to play it late 70's - quite a big record in the East Mids. I heard from Rob Lythall recently - he's been big in Record Fair circles for many years now.
  7. My English Springer Spaniel is called Oscar - in honour of Oscar Perry.
  8. With the name of that link are you sure it's to do with fishing gear Simon?
  9. Have a look yourself! https://www.replayrecords.com/
  10. That would be a first . Good to see you listening to Paul Phillips Dave. Essential listening! Down to 2 hours Sat nights from this weekend
  11. I was telling Mike Godfrey about this the other week - he said there were only 25 that used to go and half are dead... Seriously I hope it's a great success, I told Dave R I can't commit to doing it but will see nearer the time if I can get down for part of it. Skegness is so bracing...
  12. Simon you're on Xantone Blacq...so you are getting there! Marc De Clive Lowe/Jazzanova/Spinna/4 Hero etc next for you!
  13. Oi Simon, don't remind me - I'm gonna start looking out for some stuff I let go - I still wake up in a cold sweat thinking about them some times....especially Florence Trapp/Troy Johnson/Satin/Hugh Boynton/Sammy Gaha/Fab Playmates/Pro-Fascination etc ....either that or it's Leicester City's current form keeping me awake (oh...and the golf swing...with apologies to Adam G...See above!)
  14. Nice one Tomo, keep my secrets off this forum! I'll be round this week - got a few bits for you.
  15. Sorry that should be 1500 US Dollars....
  16. Barbara St Clair - Teacherman - Cross Eyed Bear. Currently on Craig Moerer's site at £1500. I'm hearing from Simon Murray who generally has his ear to the ground (when it's not listening to his Carp Optonic buzzers...) that demand is building on this? Nice to see it have it's day - great flip too...This could be one for Harvey's Disney Fund????? One for the Hot Boxer's???!!!
  17. £325 I reckon it was Simon (Sorry Glyn!). I'ld take £100 on Chuck Strong US 7" too if anyone's interested! Great record and loath to sell - but i need a new Driver (It's the Golf season!)
  18. Hallelujah for the Stafford Tv footage - Eddie Holman - showing Pete in his prime. Gone but never forgotten.
  19. Jimmie Bo Horne "If You Want My Love" Alston. It just does it for me every time.
  20. Yes Girf, Remember every Friday was always 2 new 12's - sometimes 3 with the Vocal Blue label. Definately some killers there though as you say - I'll try and have a look through and post my faves tomorrow - Logic "Blues For You" would be up there though - Tune!
  21. Spot on again Barry - Did'nt Ed and Nancy go down South? Then it all went very quiet - one of the most prolific early '90's New York labels.
  22. Yes it was Nights last night Mark. The only chance I get to really catch up with the forums! Good call Jerry on the James Howard - Garage City CLASSIC! I've also got the Italo remix (Downtown) and agree it's a goodie. Other Emotive faves that spring to mind... Valerie Johnson - Inside Valerie Johnson - Step Into My Life Ele Ferrer - I'll Make You Happy Baby (Any relation to Dennis??) Karen Pollack - You Can't Touch Me Michelle Ayers - Respect James Howard - Feelin' Good
  23. Have to agree with Barry - sorry to hear the shop is no more - but what a long run you had! 5 years was more than enough for me - believe me there is life after retail! It was after our shop closed (1997)that I really found my love for the music again - sounds strange but there is so much energy spent just keeping your head above water.
  24. Great Weekenders as you know Simon - Remember a particular Sat night alcoholic session with you! Alex celebrating 40th Up North Weekender this year - that is some feat! If I was going these days it would be the B-Bar for me I reckon.. P.S. If any one had met Big Jim they would'nt forget it!
  25. Yes Tony it was a golden period, I just wish I had time to dip into the collection more. Labels like Movin', Emotive, Acebeat, Street-Style knocking out tune after tune. Faves at the moment (though not comps as per original thread..) All heard c/o that stalwart Paul Phillips on Solar. Stephanie McKay - Tell It Like It Is - Astralwerks (Spinna) Liquid People pres Danism ft Lisa Millet - One Life - MN2S Demetrius Price - No Holding Back - Raw Fusion Carolyn Harding (Yes she's still around!) - Be With You - Deep Haven Larry Heard - Changes (G.U.) - Track Mode Peven Everett - Put Your Back Into It - Unified (Quentin Harris)
