Grabbing a pint in Manchester then all running like scolded cats from Piccadilly to Victoria to catch the last train to Wigan followed by scuffles with the piss heads on the train & those on the way from the station to the Casino, till Gail's best mate Andrea got her Dad's farm van for us to use. Trying to avoid the squad at Birch services.Once sat in mates car in the lower car park at Wigan when Taffy & Co pounced on the car & searched it & us, when asked where she came from Andrea replied innocently, "Swinefleet, where pigs are from". The heat & noise that hit you like a tidal wave as you entered through the double doors, the hole in Mr M's dancefloor that you had to avoid, Wigan bath's in the morning with a bottle of ice cold milk from the milkman, many many more but finally for this, the bottle of liquid Ephedrine which sat against the wall on the pavement just by the main door in to the Casino from the early hours & was still there as we left with everyone trying to avoid eye contact with it in case it was a set up, don't know where it came from or where it went, Memories hey!!!!!! Take care,be safe & remember," Sweet, sweet the memories you gave to me,You can't beat the memories you gave to me", Spot.
  4. Bring back Keith,Marc Copage & the Cherry People, all's forgiven. Now Gary Lewis, 5 & a Penny, Nosmo King, now your talking & yes we all danced our little bottoms off & were happy to do so, compared to some of the Country & Western type dross played today because it's "Rare" & some of the down right utter utter tosh that was played at Stafford (Which thankfully I missed,or I would never have returned to the scene) Joey DeLorenzo is at least a nice uplifting dance tune, only my opinion though. Take care,be safe & remember," Just because you got a problem that you know you've got to face", Spot.
  5. What a bag of SH**E, Kiki Dee's was bad enough this is even worse, for one she might be fit as a Butchers dog but she's got a bleeding voice like one as well, thank the Lord I managed to miss most of the Pop drivel that was played towards the latter part of the 70's. I feel physically ill now!!!! Take care,be safe & remember,"And suddenly my world is filled with sunshine, And suddenly my life is going so fine, I, I use to be such a lonely guy, I cried until you came into my life", Spot.
  6. There are very few Oldies that have me skipping to the floor nowadays, not even my all time fav, Frank Beverley - If thats what you wanted, the joints just ain't as supple as 1973 but I'll make an effort for Gloria Jones - Come go with me, also the Tomangoes - I really love you. Now if we're talking more recent plays then there's 3 that get the feet tapping & the fingers clicking; Bernard Williams - Focused on you; Henry C & the Ivy League - Country Girl, plus posibly the best dancer since Butch had an Afro , Parliaments - This is my rainy day. Take care, be safe & remember," No don't stop the carnival,No don't stop the carnival, You'll find a better way, to sing the night & day away", Spot.
  7. Hey now, we've all loved them all at one time or another & I'm 100% sure we've all danced to every single "Divvy" tune at one time or another & I'll guarntee that even if Marc Copage,Keith, Gary Lewis etc came on today we'd do a manly moan & then tap our feet & sing along with the words, not out loud mind, cos thats Div, or am I the only secret shite lover? I've got cd's full of it in the car & I don't care who knows (Don't tell me Mam tho) & whats all this it was a song of it's time??? My arse it was our youth:thumbsup: . Take care,be safe & remember," Oh, listen to me honey, like summer & sunshine, flowers & rain,we go together & that's how we'll stay", Spot.
  8. Steve I've kept up with your progress via your Mum & Sister, so I knew & have seen your little girl (A picture when she was 6) & also know you only recently married & also knew about what work you did, hey I even still on ocassions see Ady Clarke & I still can't understand him & yes he still never stops moaning, also I saw Jenny Wade recently she's just back from the Far East, it would be great to catch up, my those friday afternoons after work listening to the newest tunes at ours before setting off round the Country for the weekend, not forgetting those Bank Holidays in Scarborough!!!!!!! Thing is Steve it's bigger now than it was back then. Pete.
  9. Hey Middleman, Spot here alive & well & now married to Gail Wood (29 years) who I was going out with then, been back into this in a big way for about 10 years now, Gaz Wood (Woody) still gets to odd do, some of the other Goolies went off to make their fortunes, Steve Middleton (Middy) is down near the big smoke,Tony Hancock has retired & moved to Cornwall, little Wendy Mellin from Thorne is still about at does. We keep bumping into faces from the past like Steve LeAir, Ted Coulstone,Steve Dimberline,Ronnie Pedley,Lorraine from Richmond, the York crew & more but it's hard to remember names & faces are even harder because we've all changed so much. Lets be knowing who you are then, I've got a strange feeling it could be Steve Middleton but then again I could be totally wrong. Take care,be safe & remember," Friends are for life, not just Christmas", Spot.

  11. Jesus I've just scanned this Topic & realised this is what sickens me about the scene, a general question then it's all hands on deck to have a quick backhanded swipe at anyone who dares to make a living off the back of the scene, we go to Whitby because we love the place & have a great weekend with friends, Brid (IMVHO) is a bit of a dump & I can't remember the last time I went or even thought of going there. We all know that "The Antidote" was put on to try & sink Whitby because of personal dislikes & thats sad because I like both parties & hope they both make a worth while profit out of it. So you pay your money & make your choice, it's up to you then to vote with your feet,as Nev has. So lets just enjoy which ever one you choose to attend,I know I will. Take care,be safe & remember,"A wouldn't it be nice to get on with me neighbours, but they make it very clear, they got no time for ravers", Spot. p.s. Please don't both replying to this because I can't be arsed with it all.

  18. There's one tune that still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up & sends a shiver down my spine, it still beckons me to trip the light fantastic (If only I could) & like a gigantic magnet pulls me to the dancefloor, I remember the first time I'd heard again after some 15 years of being off the scene & that intro that says "THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL,NOW DANCE". Frank Beverly & the Butlers - If that's what you wanted. Take care,be safe & remember,"Hah, Since I bin we you darling, I bin walking into closed doors", Spot.
