Seen the LP cover now. Ten members, one black guy in the group. Who's doing the lead singing, the black group member? Think it changes on various tracks but could be wrong. Fecking brill whoever is singing on everything I've heard by them. Made for this scene. KTF. Drew.
  3. Tone. I wouldn't presume to have anywhere near enough experience or knowledge about this topic to question the likes of yourself, but isn't a counterfeit record a counterfeit record, whenever, however it was made or aquired? Why do you have such records in your collection? I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't but reading the post above seems a tad hypocritical to me. No offence meant and learning all the time from such topics. KTF. Drew.
  4. Has to contain: Love Runs Out Willie Hutch (dancer) And In Return Sheila Ferguson (shuffler) Hurt So Bad Little Anthony & The Imperials (hairs on the back of your neck listener). This wouldn't be a bad start. KTF. Drew.

Has a record ever been 'discovered' simultaniously (or near enough) by 2 DJ's on the scene without them knowing and covered up with two completely different titles and names? Now that would cause some confusion! Sorry to hijack your thread Winnie. KTF. Drew.

Any chance of you playing it on one of your radio shows Mark? Only not this W/E as I'll be at work and can't listen. KTF. Drew.

Always really loved Someday by The Tempests. However, whilst typing a report this evening been playing the selection of their stuff that's on The Soulclub Jukebox. Not a bad record amongst them IMHO! Can't stop playing I Don't Want To Lose Her. Have played it before on my computer but the more I've listened this evening the more I have appreciated what a fecking excellent record this is!!!!! Does it ever get played out anywhere? It should. If you are not familiar with the record go to The SCJB and listen with it up loud. Infact, play all the Tempests tracks there and have a brill 20 minutes just sat back listening to some good tunes!!!! Got feck all of the report done mind!!! KTF. Drew.
  9. Missed the show Russ. What was the Carol Anderson record referred to? thanks. KTF. Drew.

Mate of mine brought this into the pub the other night. He's in his mid 50's and bought this in 1968. Cassette album......... The Temptations Greatest Hits. Black case with a purple design sticker on the front with electric blue and some white writing. Has a design of Gordy in the righthand corner. Everything you'd expect........ Side1: The Way You Do The Things You Do My Girl Ain't Too Proud To Beg Don't Look Back Get Ready Beauty Is Only Skin Deep Side 2: Since I Lost My Baby The Girls Alright With Me My Baby It's Growing I'll Be In Trouble (just realised. These last 3 form a sentence a young girl might say to the young fella who's got her pregnant! ). Girl (why you wanna make me blue). That might be his reply!!! Right order honest. Mate said it had been in a draw for donkey's years. On went the tape and it was crystal clear. Nothing special this last point considering the vinal you all have being 40+ years old etc.but impessed me none the less. Anyone else remember buying this cassette? My local is getting more and more soulful as we speak!! I'll have a soul night in there if it's the last thing I do!!!!!!!!! KTF. Drew.

Because I listen to our music at home mostley via The Soul Club Jukebox, The Gary Glitter fan and the kids have started to say "he's on the sadclub jukebox again"!!!!!!! Sod em!!!! I wouldn't want to be a member of anything that they were members of anyway. KTF Drew.
  12. Vocally I think that both are a bit sceechy and nothing special but the musical arrangements makes both excellent records, with the arrangment on The Van Dykes edging it for me over the Marv Johnson version. Anyone able to upload the Temps version? KTF. Drew.
  13. Thanks a lot folks!! I now owe the irritating git a pint!!!!!!!!!! KTF. Drew.
  14. Tonight a guy in my local tried to tell me that Marvin Gaye's hit record had been done before!!!!!!!!!!!!! He reckons that it was done earlier by a female group and thinks it was by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said bollocks but one thing I have learned since being a member of this site is 'don't count your soul chickens' as it were. Please tell me it's not so, as the guy concened is affectionately known as 'thrush' with good reason!!! KTF Drew. P.S. Can someone advise on how I print the answer without printing every post etc, as I had a pint on this.
  15. Anything by Spyder Turner! KTF. Drew.
  16. 100% Pure Poison.......You Keep Coming Back (bloody trick or treaters!) KTF. Drew.
  17. Posted something in the media section the other night within the "read this and f***ing weep" post. A mate looking for some info if posters can help. If not then thanks for looking. KTF. Drew.

As I said further back, I was after lists so that I could gain an understanding of what the term 'played out oldie' (I now prefer Stuart T's 'overplayed record' as it's much more accurate) actually means to everyone and if the same records come up. Thanks to those who did post a list of their present 'overplayed' records. The lists that have been posted have thrown up one or two records that I don't think I know, so for me these won't be anything but new and therefore there was a value for me in asking the question. The only other point for me is that I do not understand why discussions on here at times disintegrate into arguments and rudeness as opposed to keeping up healthy debate, however boring, repetitive or naive a post is or however different to your own someone elses view or taste is!!!!!!!! KTF. Drew.

Sorry to appear thick Mike but what is an ips and what is it about this discussion that warrants a reminder? Genuine question Mike and not being sarcastic. KTF. Drew.

I agree Rich. Lucky To Be Loved is a fantastic record and I wasn't stating that it is for me 'played out' only that from that list it was the one I had heard 'out' most. Also think that your last played clip on here (You Didn't Have To Leave) is a fantastic record. KTF. Drew.

Don't think I've heard any of these Dendog, let alone played out, which sort of proves the point of 'one man's played out....... is another man's' etc.etc. KTF. Drew.

From my trips out Bridget, on your list I'd count: Baby Hit And Run and of course; how could I not have said origionally, Do I love You, which is the ultimate 'poo'. KTF. Drew.

Maybe they are oldies Steve but where are they played out reguarly enough for someone to have a legit moan that they're 'played out'? I know Pete's list are oldies but the only one from it that I can say I've have heard out reasonably regular is the Emanuel Laskey. KTF. Drew.
