  1. Dave, I think you'll find that Rhonda Davis was played first at the Pendulem in Manchester early 70's. A common 45 at the time. ROD

No - It's not true! I assume they are getting confused with the fact that I mentioned Manship buying that record for a large sum when I was on that TV Programme! Dave's reply to Trevski's scurrilous rumour. Dave may be sartorially and hisutely challenged but he's not stark raving mad. ROD

Trevski, I didn't know Dave had done that, but Im gonna ask him. Sure it was worth miles less than that at the time. In fact I didn't think it was worth anything until last couple of years. ROD
  4. OK, 11 then but the others are not aesthetically pleasing. Im PM-ing John so thanks for everybody's help. Im probably sorted now. ROD
  5. eBay item # 290117448664 Just had a look and there's only three I can see of the type I want. Thanks for drawing my attention to it. ROD
  6. No vinyl. It's on CD box set "Emperors of Soul" ROD
  7. Thank you all for replies, especially Headsy. It is 2007 and even I have run across record adaptors for turntables. I have that built in anyway. Might be considered anal retentive but I have "Y" middles all set up the same way in my US imports. Kinda look unfinished with that big hole in the middle!! Im down to my last 10 or so. Platters I have no MOJO 45s but your comment did make me think that something maybe once a bit naff is quite nice and collectible now. I think one or two on here collect those Soul Sound Boots. ROD
  8. Dave,I have a small supply available in those middles I used for my remaining 70's 45s. I could obviously take those out to use for the new 60's 45s I get and throw away the useless discs. I think that would maintain the aesthetic and improve the collection significantly. So you had none then? ROD
  9. Anybody got any please as Im running out. ROD
  10. I voted "Who cares" under the impression I was stating that I don't care what the perceived state of the scene is based on a poll of a few punters. I was buying soul 45s before I even knew about rare/Northern or whatever it was called back in 1968 and I will continue buying should it ever completely collapse. Not that there's any sign of that at all thanks to a very dedicated hardcore. I still hear new 45s to me and the fact that venues have shut or music policy has shifted or numbers have fallen or there are too many clubs does not deter me from still getting a buzz when I add to my collection or find something new. ROD
  11. Im staggered this is still covered up. ROD
  12. By the way,did you get your money back? ROD
  13. Yes that's it. ROD
  14. Updated this list showing everything that is sold. Couple of additions:_ Brief Encounter We want to play LP NOT sealed few marks VG++ £50 SOLD Michael & Raymond Man without a woman WDJ RCA VG+ [one quite noticeable mark but doesn't affect play] £50 If anyone is interested in either of those two Im happy to send them upfront before payment so buyer can check condition. Also open to offers on owt that's left. Thanks ROD
  15. I have the WDJ. There is a slight difference in that it doesn't say "Arranged by Sonny Sanders". And before anyone asks if I can post it up, Im still trying to figure out how to post Tamiko Jones issue from 3 months ago. Shame it ain't got instr. on other side too. ROD
  16. ................on in case I should get lucky just at that moment. Tony
  17. I will bear that in mind, Martin, but I've been using an eraser on WDJ only for years and to no detriment to vinyl surface. Am interested in Mel's comment though as I had a Michael&Raymond which I thought was M- but when I pulled it out [oo er missus!!] recently the vinyl had a very noticeable blemish on it but it's not a scratch and plays without ticks or noise. I'd not heard of wood reacting with vinyl apart from that time I took a baseball bat to the "Twenty Essential Modern Soul Tracks" album. ROD
  18. Send me some Trevski. I'd not heard of that. I use an ordinary eraser and it's fine for removing even the most stubborn ringwear but for those tough jobs, especially for all you young mums out there, I'd recommend Persil everytime. ROD

Steve that was my next masterpiece. I thought I had a copy of "Playin' hide and seek" but I can't find it. ROD PS Sorry, Donna $400 for a bad 45 is not funny and you need to get it sorted right away.

OK, it was pathetic!! I did get a copy of "The Duck" but when it arrived it was quacked. ROD

I've got a copy of "The snake" with a hiss. Get your money back,Donna. Shoulda mentioned that in the ad. ROD
  22. You're not implying are you Godz that I actually listened to them? And before you say how do I know they're crap...... ROD
  23. Do you always have to be so "right-on" , Mrs Norman Maine? Last thing I got from the Observer was some awful compilation CD with Razorlight, Radiohead and Guillemots, and the Strokes from the Guardian. Talk about crap. I nearly voted UKIP!! Unless this leads to a Mail headline of " Butch Immigrant Music Corrupts Nation's 50 Year Olds" I think this can only be a good thing if it perhaps lets the Media know that not all of us who are entitled to Saga holidays and think June Whitfield doesn't look bad for her age, are lining up to buy tickets for Abba the Musical and waiting for the next McCartney album. I wonder if I could get a job writing headlines for the Mail. ROD
  24. I seem to remember a copy of Jackie Beavers, Revilot on Ebay from Columbia few months back. Anyone confirm that and whether that turned out to be genuine. Also I think I saw Cautions on Shrine offered from Lima,Peru at one time. Still ,a refreshing change from "The flight of the Condor" and Andes pipes. ROD
  25. "Giving respect and demanding respect are totally different things." Of course. Look, just do what makes you comfortable but that does not mean that other people think the same way, so if someone plays your discovery or exclusive first then it is not necessarily a sign of disrespect. In fact it's probably a compliment to you as a dj that the other guy has gone out and got it cos he heard you play it and liked it. You might have found it,you might have broke it but you really don't need to get in a frame of mind that it's your record. Im not saying you do that; just talking generally. You have the quiet satisfaction of knowing you were the first and that should be enough, and as you've said on other threads you're probably going to move onto something else anyway once you consider a record is getting over-exposed. I wouldn't let other dj's egos get in the way of what you feel like playing as happened with the spat you mentioned. I don't know where some guys are coming from really!! As Mark mentioned I will be at Sunderland. I can spare you 5 minutes but no autographs please. ROD
