Can you explain that Dave? A quick glance at Ebay shows DM WXL to be the commoner of the two. Do you know how the mix differs. Both are stated as 2.05 in length. ROD

Have we not gone off at a tangent here. The question is not why do these two labels differ. They're both WXL-114312. There is another release with WXB-118209. See here https://cgi.ebay.com/BRENDA-HOLLOWAY-WHEN-IM-GONE-45-TAMLA-T-54111_W0QQitemZ350223027967QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item518aeb4eff&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 What's the difference between these two serial #'s and Brad wonders why WXL seems to be rated more when it appears very common. Brad I wouldn't get too excited. Have a look at my thread [well, one reply anyway] from week or so ago. I had WXL as well. Maybe WXB harder to find or just rubbish info. ROD

A Searling drama surely!

Think I paid £19 for mine not that long ago and it's Mint. Yew is £8 in my book. Just one of those records that's never really done anything. ROD

Tim Brown Talks.........thru His @rse
Well "Cum sixty-nine with me" introduced by Fanny Craddock would obviously be lowering the tone so Im going for "Come shine with me" for the Polish market that we now have in the UK. They wouldn't be eating the meals though. Just washing up afterward. ROD

Let's face it you're never gonna be able to afford Jeremy Clarkson so get in on the ground floor with Tim now. And what would Channel 4 know about commercial success. You've got the new Buffy in "Reaper" and you hide it away on E4 and new episodes of "Come dine with me" should be on C4 7-8pm Saturday night. ROD

Dynamics I Need Your Lovin' Rca/victor
I'd say £200 for demo is top price and more like £150-175. Regular is rarely seen though so maybe 300. ROD

Are There Still Played Out Oldies?
If it's in my collection I don't really want to hear it and if it isn't I don't mind. After 40 years as far as trad. 60's Northern sound is concerned played out oldies and newies tend to be not much different really with some exceptions. ROD

The Entertainers - Any Way You Want It - Metro
Yep. Tailor-made cover for the Beach Scene of Enchantment track on Roadshow I think. Enchantment may have come out here on UA but Im not sure and it will give you something to look for trawling those boot fairs. ROD

Is There Any Politics Surrounding These Two Instrumentals
I just got Milton [M-DJ] for £31 plus postage off Ebay via a second chance offer. My bid was beat by $1. I'd agree with Dave F that £50 may be about right but obviously you can get it cheaper if you're prepared to wait and look around. ROD

Brenda Holloway When Im Gone
Are they much different though. I have WXL. Is it worth getting WXB? ROD

Brenda Holloway When Im Gone
What's the difference anyone know. Which is the rarer as there are two ads running on Ebay both claiming the opposite. ROD

Sitting In The Park - Billy Stewart Or Georgie Fame
I think that's a pretty fair assessment Richard although I would say that there were Black artists who were household names before the "social revolution of the 60's". Whether Armstrong,Basie,Ellington,Cole etc were just exceptions that proved the rule or maybe they were recording in a genre that was more familiar to a White audience as opposed to say the blues guys. To kill two birds with one stone I can see why you admire Dave Godin so much and I think he'd be proud to think that 40 years down the line his influence has played a part in leading you to come up with an article that he himself could have written back then. However I can appreciate that for a 16 year old at the time it could be considered heavy-going and of only peripheral interest to someone merely wanting to know the latest sounds in the clubs. Whatever the motivations for Moodies and Fame to cover those tracks [i prefer the originals myself] I do wonder why we appeared not to hear the original Black artists back in the 60's in the UK but then in 65 I was 12 and not that musically aware so maybe somewhere we did. They certainly got a release here and were played in some clubs. However "pop" music radio was almost non-existent compared to that in the USA and from what I've read restrictive practices [such as "needle-time] by the Musicians Union over here prevented exposure on radio and curtailed touring opportunities for USA acts. As nobody has replied I'd say it is the original before Yew as far as I know, and according to guy who wrote that USA "Harmony" singles book, it is. You've popped up on a few threads tonight toaster. ROD

Sitting In The Park - Billy Stewart Or Georgie Fame
I heard that at the time Bessie Banks was playing in goal for Leicester City and so wasn't available to promote the record? ROD

Tim Brown Talks.........thru His @rse
Don't we all at times. Maybe he doesn't read Manifesto. Does everybody on here? I don't. Hardly surprising he's not "au fait" with exactly what's happening in Australia. I don't keep up with what's going on in Yorkshire. Surprised he got muddled with the James Carr tracks as I remember him championing this guy and other dreary [only IMHO of course] deep soul guys back in mid-70's when he was spending all his pocket-money on this stuff. He was probably thinking lemurs as he often does. "Tim Brown talks thru his ass"? Late night chat show on Channel 4. I'd tune in. ROD

Fed Up, With Certain Members
I can understand the frustration but I can't see that venting it on here is any answer to the problem. Personally I've never had anyone let me down although once or twice maybe a bit slow to pay as I tend toward the pay pretty immediately school myself. The instance of the 2 x Motown 45s is regrettable but at least the non-buyer did get in touch next day. If I don't know the buyer who reserves 45s and someone else orders after I usually say record is reseved but they can always check back in a week to see if sale has gone through. I think we need to identify "serial" non-buyers only. To do that you'd have to "name and shame", as Dave points out, so that the information can be shared amongst sellers and some kinda blacklist drawn up. The odd let-down whilst a pain for the seller is really to be expected amongst a clientelle whose pursuit of vinyl sometimes sees common sense fly out the window. ROD
