SOME INCREDIBLY FUNNY MOMMENTS Al Coney stealing the spastic statue and us lot knocking the head of it in the bus must of been at least 200 quid in penny coins scattered all over the eden bus .bought eddie parker for 7 quid that night all in penny coins lol. Pulling in at Kirby Stpehen and having a drink in the pub we all walked out with beanstalkers-barbour coats wellies-farmers gloves-youname it -allnight that night Al Coney worre a beanstalker and i had a pair of size 19 wellies on !! Knicking milk -on doorsteps outside at 5 in the morning and a lad from darlo got gaught he was charged with 5 counts of theft [one for each milk bottle] Paul hindle getting locked up for biting a punk. My good mate conney deliberatly falling downstairs in our corner for pound notes lol, top to bottom. sleepovers from friday to sat with gaz simons girlfriend and me and kev johnson eating toast in a terraced house in wigan with a girlfriends mum while smoking 10 no 6 . carlo knicking a mini and the steering wheel coming off - back street bluies inside of pork pies . the mods mayday night me booking a bus and not turning up. lovely people like june daily who never charged me for 3 years for bus fair 78-81 because i was gaz simons mate lol. absolute nutters like bowsey and mouse from boro who had no boundries and even scared the wigan bouncers- jack livo telling me he was gonna be a hit man when he grew up [those who know him will have a silent chuckkle] little dungan mc callister beating up hells angels at service stations finally because i really could go on all night -rading brighouse space invaders and spendig 2 nights in prison with 35 nutters from aycliffe -darlo and boro -every single person had a forged ticket for the oldies aniversary-didnt matter we did not get there. no wonder i failed my o levels!!

ive enjoyed reading this thread its been thought provoking in some respects and theres been alot of sense from some quarters-my view is a firm no-to me it did not hit home untill a couple of months back when i was having a cuppa round me old mates house AL CONEY -Al has a pic of us lot in 1978 on the bus on the way to the casino GAZ Simons Harry from darlo Johnny Mercer etc and i must admitt when i looked at it i was agasht "we were barely out of nappies lol-and we were proper naughty lads lol.So exposure to older nutters-gear-gear talk - -etc is just not good regardless of what year we are in and bet your bottom doller -young people will be exposed. The wider societal issue is young peoples consiousness and ofcourse alot of them know waht goes on etc-thats why my 16 year old daughter looks through me when i come back from dos -kids arnt daft but younger ones really should be kept away untill 18 by which time there will be downloading kings of leon and pink lol. Ive also never bought into the "we need young people on the scene"to me the issue is we need ABLE BODY PEOPLE LOL,the music willcarry on with us gone lol. BAZ A

the price quide like it or loath it -is never consistent with trends on the scene -the 2 are like chalk and cheese but for a collector who collects a wide breath of logos etc in a number of genres i think its a brill ref point -prices fluctuate so much that -at times its really hard to have a common sense discussion and yes numerous buyers trust john and so there should -hes a decent bloke imho .The prices stated in the quide are prices paid by johns customers and yes i would of thought that all the updated prices would be added next time round as he has done this on prior editions,the issue is as soon as printed there flucuate lol!! Good example is lee fields went for how much ?? again trends does beg the question on whether John will just state the top price of this in the next quide or perhaps the common sense price now that has levelled out ?? I use the quide alot to price funk/deep/sweet/b sides/bits of gospel,latin etc -getting the money stated is a whole new issue it is still a buyers market with not great amounts of common sense involved!! GOOD FIND JACOB OUT of interest which compilation is it on ?? cheers BAZ . that record come from Omaha, Nebraska.. I bought one years ago for 5 bucks from a local shop up there in Omaha. at the time neither I, nor the shop owner knew it was an Omaha record. then it came out on that compilation and he couldnt believe he sold it to me for a fiver haha. then he found another one and bragged to me that he got 50 bucks for it, where at that time it had already shot up to hundreds of dollars anyway haha. well anyway, handsome label design! jacob

Particulary in the eighties the prhase was coined-it was fun then because we were all into rare soul and finding them-now peoplke seem to think its kudos to own a Joe Jama lol[shit record imho]i more to do with bragging rights than quality -plus sites like this give people refo-soul which has thoushands of quality records for less than a fiver "so the turnaround has more to do with the information age etc". iM STILL AMAZED at some of the prices on ebay for records that i wouldnt give house space to but hey ho -each to their own-if some numbty is bragging at a local soul do thar he/she has a rare soul record then my view is their have missed the boat completly -im pleased people are tunring their nose up to rare soul and its connatations cos lets face it RARE HAS NOWT TO DO WITH QUALITY -perhaps it means that THE NEW RARE IS THE NEW ACCESIBLE -PHEW BOUT TIME -RIGHT IM OFF TO PLAY MY SHIT RARE THELMA DEMOS ""HAVE A GOOD DAY FOLKS"LOL.
