I'm not sure the quantity discovered down south was that great but there were only a handful of people searching circa 72-ish, that'd be Mick Smith & Clive Everet, Ken Rowlands & Nigel Martin, probably Ady although I don't remember much more than a scruffy parka and clapped out scooter, Tony Rounce for sure albeit via Record Corner I suspect, Dave Rivers & Dave Burton me a bit and perhaps about 3 or 4 others. Thing was at least one of us could bring a new sound to the Torch every 14 days and invariably did. What did happen was that if a record was being sought, Ski-ing in the snow comes to mind, bet was you could find it quicker in London than anywhere else in the UK. I once stopped at a petrol station on the South Circular saw a junk shop, went in and came out with a Darrell Banks on Atco, 4 Pros & Bobby Reed on Loma within about 10 minutes. Chris L

Thats' kind of sad in a way that people have been so "re-eductaed" by those ever so nice DJ's that they'll settle anything, really it's a lousy record, the vocals sound like the singer was balancing on a tightrope, produced by Popcorn Wylie, Buttered Popcorn, Little Willie makes no difference it's a below average record...................but it is rare and I'd like to have 10 copies of it................. so I could sell them..............

Depends where the "place" was, wouldn't lasted 10 seconds in 1973 anywhere tehre was a NS venue, it were fast en furious in them days.....

Where is it moving to ? The Congo hopefully, what a garbage statement. NS is constantly changing !! from what into what ?? From a kangeroo to bag of fish & chips !!! Most of the decent NS sounds were discovered long ago, all the producers, writers & arrangers have had the "NS fan visit" not much there, the majority of the "new finds" are crap, take that Margaret Little, things have gotten so bad there's a massive strain of Emperors New Clothes Itus going around, hyped up shytte, wouldn't made it to the dustbin when men were men, etc. Yikes, if Northern Souls future rests with the chinstrokers raving about some cha-cha record then Ken Livingstone help us all. Actually it was Dave Rivers & Dave Burton who gave it to Ian to play, so I'm afraid the London boys get the credit for discovering that gem................

And you know this to be a fact ?? Can you show us the irrefutable evidence (just in case you don't know it, saying IMHO doesn't mean it's a fact) have you copies of faxes, e-mails, taped conversations proving it ???
