  2. Without wishing to sart WWIII, it's a shame it's took some 60's/70's style material for him to have got recognition on here!! Cheers, Mark R

  5. I like to think that the scene and soul music shaped me, along with other influences in life. If I've added anything along the way, then I'd be happy with that fact! Cheers, Mark R
  6. If you check my Mixcloud or find the direct link to it in audio/radio etc, I have a recording of Clive Jones at Hinckley all nighter posted up there.....1983. Cheers, Mark R

  8. Of interest to many on here I'm sure............. http://funkembassy.bandcamp.com/album/shining-on https://www.cdbaby.com/cd/ronlittlejohnfunkembassy Cheers, Mark R added by site http://youtu.be/YtbLBqnZ7Uw This EP, available on cdbaby and itunes by the end of October, 2013, has been written by Soul & Funk lovers, who missed the Golden Age of 70s music, when so many timeless songs were written by wonderful artists. Our inspiration came from Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, Isaac Hayes, Rolling Stones, Herbie Hancock, James Brown, John Lennon, Sly & The Family Stone, Little Richard, Muddy Waters, Marvin Gaye and so many others. Funk lovers will enjoy the booty shakin' groove of Cream#9, James Brown's fans will probably enjoy Alana Bridgewater and Ron Littlejohn's performance on 'Light me up', and.... we'll let you discover the rest by yourselves. Feel free to visit us on Facebook and our website for the latest news on.fb.me/funkembassy www.funkembassy.com Enjoy ;-) credits released 19 October 2013

  10. Where the hell do you start............. My head was totally f*cked the first time I heard this record........... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUvQEasAato Probably my signature tune over the last ten years.......the right surname too.......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzHhn83myJk Bought two of these.........a W/L promo to play, and a perfectly sealed release copy to cuddle............ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iblnARhi9IQ So, this ain't soul???........and a rare orange vinyl 12" to boot (excuse the pun!).......fits the requirements of this forum perfectly......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLIMO8Md2Ok Better stop there!! Cheers, Mark R
  11. Best cut isn't on the vinyl LP though! Cheers, Mark R
  12. Why has the link been removed to the NS film trailer been removed? How bloody frustrating......I was just going to show someone..........is it a secret or something? Cheers, Mark R
  13. That looks great......look forward to seeing that! Cheers, Mark R
  14. If it has legs, do you provide bicycle clips too? Cheers, Mark R
  15. Sorry if it's been done before, but this was new to me and I found it very interesting. ...... https://www.newuntouchables.com/nutsmag/richard-searling-hey-mr-dj/ Found it on the back of this week's Culture Show as it got me looking for such things. Cheers, Mark R
  16. Sowerby Bridge to be precise Mr. G.......I used the address enough times to remember! LOL Only when I used 'em it was for zoots & pegs......the "40's" as the guys around here used to call them were largely a thing of the past thankfully! Cheers, Mark R
  17. Best of its kind I've seen 4/5 Cheers, Mark R
  18. I can imagine how cross you were Steve, as i know how bemused I was when i turned up at an all nighter modern room to find only one CD player...........at least I had one! I explained to the guy that if it's a modern room it needed CD players. What I find quite frightening is that clearly some people just don't understand that there's any form of soul music outside of rare soul/vinyl etc. In fairness there's a proportion of modern fans who don't see anything other than their take on it too.........in fact, I get frustrated by modern fans who take a swipe at the rare soul scene when they have never been part of it or understand it. I like to think I understand a bit about the mechanisms of both scenes........and the associated vaugaries of each!! LOL Cheers, Mark R
  19. Hi Ady, Of relevance I guess. I remember this from time of release but had completely forgotten about it until I stumbled across it this morning whilst trawling for new music at this site. Not sure what it's like but thought if would be useful to post in the interests of completeness re Mary's more contemporary output: https://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bradfordcomer Cheers, Mark R
  20. You really are hilarious. Take a look at some of your own contributions before critiscising me for forthright opinions! I hadn't even seen your podcasts, and I'll be the judge of how soulful they are if I get around to listening to them thanks very much. It's F all to to with liking the same music as me, it's just an observation that you appear to be a NS fan, not a soul fan......would you disagree with that? Let people use whatever format they like, but can you really NOT see the irony and bigotry in the "original format" stance )understandably) strongly preferred by members here and the cutting of a track ORIGINALLY released on CD only, onto vinyl to play out........tell me that's not hard to understand. Can you tell me that makes sense? It's contradictory - fact. It's as simple as that really. Cheers, Mark R
  21. There you go Ady...... https://www.discogs.com/artist/Mary+Love-Comer Cheers, Mark R
  22. I will NEVER understand for the life of me.......I buy/play/collect music that I like, be it 7", 12", CD, MP3. Surely it's about the music you like, not a format? I love vinyl, but it's bizarre to just limit yourself basrd on a format.......I sorry, I don't want an argument and don't want to sound like I disrespect others opinions, but I find that kind of thing incredulous. Some of you come at this from a completely different angle to me..... . Cheers, Mark R
  23. If that was aimed at mey Sam post Barry, I remind you I said "make of this what you will.........." In other words I was stating what I know, not passing an opinion on it. Cheers, Mark R
  24. To be fair Pete, and make of this what you will, Sam would tell you it's more to do with a fear of technology, though clearly he does prefer vinyl anyway. It is my understanding that his Manifesto columns are hand-written, which tells you all you need to know in that respect...........who else would hand write that kind of thing nowdays!! Cheers, Mark R
