  2. Exactly...........no more complicated than that is it? Agreed, a strange thread! Cheers, Mark R
  3. Anyone else think they saw one of the younger members of this forum placing a bet in the bookies in Corrie last night..................or am I going ga-ga. If it wasn't, then our man has an identical twin! Cheers, Mark R

  7. Next show goes out this Friday evening 9-11pm at www.starpointradio.com. The usual format of new and recent tuneage of whatever tempo, on whatever format it needs to be played on, is the order of the day. Hope some of you can join me...................the show includes news of a re-scheduling of my shows and of a CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR SPECIAL!! See seperate post too for more details. Cheers, Mark R
  8. This way it's a win-win situation................appear to be spinning your vinyl whilst really playing mp3's from a laptop https://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef9xKlimoew You realise what's happening 20 mins into the set, when you ponder "how come he doesn't change the disks??" This guy was awesome at Southport........a two hour disco/classics set!! If you've never seen this, it's two time coded disks and special headshells/styli................you pick your mp3 file on the old lapola, assign it to a deck, and then use the vinyl to control the digital file.............kinda cool.............don't shoot me, just a bit of Sunday evening fun Took him 10 mins to unwire it all though when the next DJ came on. Carry your vinyl from the USA, or bring this gear??............I can see the appeal!!! Of course..............you could really show off, and play a two hour mixed house set from reel-to-reel tape.............like Kerri Chandler did here: https://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ24cKKV1sc Propper DJ's methinks...........might not be your kinda music, but you have to admire the skills and technology!! Cheers, Mark R
  9. That's quite a nice way of putting it I think. Cheers, Mark R
  10. Because I would produce it from my box behind the decks It's not about protecting it from play............records are made to be played..............but there's a difference, and an important one, if you're protecting it from play on shit equipment!! Anyway, back to the point..............so if I had this killer tune, and no-one else had it, you're seriously telling me you would rather not hear it, than hear it on a format other than vinyl?? I wasn't going to get involved in this, as it's largely irrelevant to me being a new release merchant! Cheers, Mark R
  11. Can't argue with that Ken.............I'm actually in love with vinyl as much as you guys, but it's not the be all and end all for me Cheers, Mark R
  12. But what if I find a new (old!) 7", burn it to CD to protect it from wear, and play that out at a gig, is that different or still acceptable?? I own an original copy............just promoting something I own???? Cheers, Mark R
  13. I really don't want to get involved in this thread, but, based on the above statement, which you nearly all seem to hold with............why is it OK for someone to cut a CD track (assuming that's the tracks original format) to a vinyl record for playing out?? Aside from CD players not being provided at most NS venues, of course. I mean, in terms of the "original format" thing, is this acceptable? I love reading all this!! Cheers, Mark R
  14. Could someone PM me some contact details for Gary please? Cheers, Mark R
  15. Ian, you've posed some very fair questions mate..........particularly about the unreleased stuff!! Cheers, Mark R
  16. Great story on this 45......sure we've talked about this before..............but this was an early incarnation of Jimmy Jam (of Jam & Lewis fame).......MEGA 80's/90's producer.......note the credits...........written by James Harris III (aka Jimmy Jam). Love stories like that! A record I thought I would never own..............now nestling nicely Cheers, Mark R
  17. Always have these problems..........still waiting for October ish, but have November's from same subscription(?).........anyway, spoke to Paul Phillips last week, so you won't be the first to ring up bending his ear about this. Of course, it's not really Paul's problem, but he should "know a man that can", so to speak. I did however point out to him that it doesn't help their cause if folk who are potentially going to pay for ad's in there don't get their magazines on time!!!! Wrong signals and all that! Cheers, Mark R
  18. Steve, I've only just got around to tracking my Floyd Taylor CD, and to be honest mate, the whole thing sounded bloody class to me!! Of course, I can see the particular appeal of "Sweet Love" to the modern crowd.....tune! Cheers, Mark R
  19. Fookin' superb................ https://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/287833...ust%204%20house Not sure where you sit on this kinda stuff Russ, but this is great IMHO, having a great 80's boogie feel. Cheers, Mark R
  20. I second that Steve..............great set!! Cheers, Mark R
  21. Ya bugger Murraymint..............I'd recognise my year end chart anywhere!! Cheers, Mark R
  22. Didn't we have an extensive thread about these guys some months ago?............alll the info's in there, but it will take someone better than I to find that thread!!! Cheers, Mark R
  23. Got that Mart, thanks............may well see you tomorrow! Cheers, Mark R
  24. Could some kind soul PM me a mobile number for Rob please...............it went missing with my old phone TIA, Mark R
