  1. Such a brilliant record. RIP Bill
  2. You're right! It does sound like a different mix. We had only had a 1/4" master tape for that particular song, so we opted to use that over doing a vinyl rip.
  3. Can't get the M-Pac or Midas soundclips to open at the moment...site issue?
  4. Larry & Hippies "Soul Do It" is a reworking of Andre Williams' "You Got It..." / Fabulous Apollos "Determination" / Clarence Jackson "If It Don't Fit...". Nice!
  5. Alvin Cash - "Sweatin'"...WOW a vocal version to the legendary Kinnetics Band Toddlin Town test pressing!
  6. WOW!!! Now that´s what I call a release - brilliant!
  7. Kev, I've never heard that version! Very cool. That is likely the exact same backing track (mabye mixed a little different, or a different take from the same session) as the Harold Burrage track... Ben Brown and M. Rogers (Maurice Rogers) along with Gordon Keith were doing some production work at One-derful! (Al Tamms on Midas for example) around the time they started up Steeltown!
  8. Kev, "I'm in Love" is a great tune! As far as our One-derful! Collection series (the 6xcds / 12xlps) we're not including "I'm in Love", but I believe we will be helping the Leaner family put together additional releases in the future, so there's a good chance we'll have another opportunity to include it! We're including four Harold Burrage tracks on our M-Pac! compilation - we wanted to make sure we included "Things Ain't What They Used To Be" and "Got to Find Away" and we also wanted to make sure we were contributing something new that hadn't been heard before. Fortunately we were able to find two really great unreleased tracks from Harold Burrage - "Bad Situation" and "Mountain of Soul" Here are some sound clips: https://secretstashrecords.com/AudioClips/ssrlp35-3/a4-haroldburrage-badsituation90.mp3 https://secretstashrecords.com/AudioClips/ssrlp35-3/c1-haroldburrage-mountainofsoul90.mp3 As far as info about "I'm in Love," I just did a quick search through the Leaner's tape card index and the only result I got was for a tape from June of 1965. However, I doubt that it was recorded then - In June of 1965, the Leaners backed up all of their earlier tapes onto 1/4" tapes. We're going to start taking pre-orders for the One-derful Collection on Tuesday, so I'll be sure to post a link that will have more details about the releases and audio clips for all of the tracks. -Will
  9. https://soundcloud.com/secretstashrecords/little-tommy-a-im-still-hurt/s-VqyIM?in=secretstashrecords/sets/september-2-2014-new-releases/s-VqyIM The Soundcloud link Secret Stash sent me is now locked it seems so you could try their site https://secretstashrecords.com/ which at present opens with a page with these three on.
  10. Agreed, these are exciting finds and excellent quality. Looking forward to Secret Stash releasing the "One-derful" LP series to see what else we have been missing all this time!
  11. Sounds great! I guess he lost interest in the acetates and all that when he got the job playing for Chelsea?
  12. Just had a quick sneak at this site whilst at work. Looks like a lot of time and effort have gone into this project. Impressive and informative from what I've seen so far. Looking forward to delving a bit deeper later. Well done guys!
  13. They sound awesome Mark you`ll be well chufficated!
  14. tickets booked Wigan Emp!!! gotta love Josh Whitehouse, superb actor and musician!!
  15. LP first Just featured "Can't do without your love" on Radio Show FCUM Radio
  16. I agree, another cracker! the stand out track for me is Julius Wright 'I pray that things will change' - really hoping that this get's a 45 release (Ady, if you're reading.............................please?)
  17. Mike, thank you for the tip. I made a gallery, and will try to insert the images below. Please let me know if this does not work!
  18. Andy, I'm not 100% sure which/how many Ringleader acetates have been found -- 2 or 3? Just doing a quick search, I found a couple soul source discussions about them, though. I think can clear up a few questions out there about Ringleader recordings. There's the only release on M-Pac! "Baby, What Has Happened To Our Love" b/w "Let's Start Over." Then I believe 3 additional tracks showed up on acetates found later (though I am unsure if there are additional acetates out there). The tracks I know of that were on the acetates are: "All of My Life" which was actually labeled "Sweet Little Girl" "This Is Goodbye," which shows up in the second soul source thread and some people believe were the "Four Temples," is actually the Ringleaders. One of the tape box scans I posted above labels it as "I've Decided" - The chorus is "I've decided this is goodbye." here's a youtube link someone posted "I'd Like To Win You Over" shows up on a tape from the same session as "Let's Start Over" So, I believe "Grin and Bare It" b/w "I've Got Find My Baby" are completely unheard. Also, SRD usually picks up our stuff (I'm not 100% sure if we've gotten an order yet), Juno like mentioned above does, and rarenorthernsoul.com has also made a couple orders,
  19. Steve, We pressed 1,000 of each of these three (Little Tommy, Ringleaders, Sharpees). We want the One-derful! related releases to stay available, but at the same time I have a lot of respect for people who show support early on. If we repress either the Ringleaders or Sharpees, I would like to make the labels noticeably different for the second pressing, Ã la how Otis Clay's "A Lasting Love" also has a yellow label pressing. That way, hopefully the first pressing will feel special and not super common.
  20. Is it a limited run.....of how many?
  21. I'm new to the forum, so I don't want to step out of line and self-promote. But to give you a little more info, we're doing 6 double LP/CD compilations with each one focused on a different label - One-derful!, Mar-V-Lus, M-Pac!, Halo, Midas, and Toddlin' Town. We're finished with the tape transfers, mixing, and mastering for 5 out of 6 and I believe there will be a combined 57 tracks that are un-issued (the vast majority of which haven't appeared elsewhere). We're also doing at least 7 more 45s (mainly as bonus 45s for the compilations). We'll keep you updated as things move forward!
  22. Nick, Thanks for your question! This is Will from Secret Stash. As far as I know, these two tracks are unknown. I've attached a couple images of tape scans/session notes - to give you an idea as far as how we came to the conclusion that these tracks are by the Ringleaders.
  23. Just ordered Ringleaders. Thanks for the heads up.
