  1. When reading the notes for the book, the author say's that for most of these groups 'Soul' & 'RnB' music was the order of the day, so I guess you're right. I have at least 4 different singles by groups calling themselves 'The Soul Brothers'....
  2. Check out the 2 CDs which come with the book, some Northern Soul rarities on them!
  3. 'Kim Weston - The Motown Anthology'
  4. Presume its a piece of glass on a flat base which heats up when plugged in?
  5. Keep clicking....some of these bands share the same names as some black groups, I mean, surely 'The Attractions' aint the same group on Bell / De-To are they? 'Cavaliers' surely not the RCA group? And what about 'The Fourteen Feet Of Soul'!!!! Who the hell are they...anyone know anything by them? I gotta here it! 'Doug Clark & The Hot Nuts' what a name! but these are a black group even though their name sounds white! 'Soul Inc.' are they the guys on Golden Eye? (Soul Bros Inc?) If you keep looking there is a fab pic of the Oxford Nights...all looking like Mr. E. Humperdink!!!
  6. Isley Brothers - 'Little Miss Sweetness' UK only 45 flip (TMG 708)
  7. Check out this book and click where it says photos, you won't believe some of the stunning pics! www.heybabydays.com
  8. I thought it was great too! Seem to recall seeing that baby on an advert last year or so but can't remember what it was for, nappies I suspect.
  9. Didn't the Four Winds do 'Baked Beans, Good For The Heart' on Shattahoochie?

'I Really Need Your love So Desperately'....great Northern stormer on Date, mine's complete with a stunning pic sleeve! Herb Ward aint it?
  11. Tell me about it! I always try to get the record I traded back some other way but more often than not they've suddenly tripled in price!!!! Funny that....
  12. J T Trouble, great piece! I watched the whole video and couldn't stop laughing, it's almost like a spoof and the guy reminds me of Jim Carey. He claims he's trying to get every record ever made in the whole world! !!!!!!! Just one hiccup though, when the interviewer asked him how many groups/artists that begin with 'Q' he said there are only 4 in the world then went on to name Queen...and a couple of others i hadn't heard of.....funny he failed to name the 'Quotations', 'Quintessence', Quantrells, Quovons, the Q... 'Lost cause' springs to mind.
  13. Yeah, 'Cold Grey Dawn' is a great little beat ballad off that l.p and I don't usually like 'live' recordings but this one's the bomb! Think the 'Lost Nite' label ended around 1966 'cause I've got an old catalogue (which was slipped in the album) and it lists loads of records with release dates up until 1966 and looking at it and the Lost Nite 45's I have there seem to be no more releases. Included in the last few are Dreamlovers 'You Gave Me Somebody To Love' and Delettes 'Please Forgive Me'.
  14. Good call Dave, just dug out my Lee Andrews l.p and it says on the back cover.... LOST NITE LP - 113 Produced And Owned By Crimson Records, inc. So I guess that it's an off-shoot from the Crimson label. It's a deffo original 1960's USA album, got it with a half dozen other original USA 60's albums from an old guy years ago who had them in the 60's when he lived in Phoenix.
  15. The 'Lost Nite' 45 is NOT a boot but a legal pressing actually done in the 60's out of Philly, quality on this Lost Nite 45 is second to none...if anyone has the single it's actually stamped very lightly and you can just about make it out 'Frankford and Wayne'. I have original 60's albums by Lee Andrews on the same (yellow) Lost Nite label, so really it's open to dispute that this is a re-issue label at all! My advice...buy it on Lost Nite for a fiver now! (Got it on Phil.L.A too and they are identical to the Lost Nite pressing even down to the run out markings). Whatever, i'm sticking in my 'originals' box anyway

  22. I got a copy and seen it listed quite high...think it is fairly rare. Nice slab of R&B/early Soul.
  23. Janie Grant (Walsh?)....great double sider! Sometimes see it for a good wad then other occasions £20 ish, what's the real deal on this then?. Once saw it for bids on clarkie's list!
  24. This album also features the Tymes l.p only version of Dan Folger's 'The Way Of The Crowd'.
