Who Can Help Me Recognize This Song?
Sounds like something from James Brown's band 'The Famous Flames', or a Stax/Atlantic recording. Definitely a 1960's Soul instrumental. Maybe someone on here can recognise it for you.

Stars On 45 Northern Soul
I can see it happening.......

The Intertains - Glad I Found You / Need Your Love
I always thought it came out twice, one with 'I Need Your Love' and another with the other flip ('I've Got To Find...'). As far as I am aware, 'I Need Your Love' is a better side than 'I've Got To Find...' Think John Manship just made an error in his sound file. It's only what I've heard though, so not 100%.

The Torquays
Classic style Northern stomper, not in any of the price guides. The backing sounds very familiar but I can't place it. Took me ages to get a copy, then only because it was listed as Garage. R. Domar has a vg copy for £65.....so anyone on here know what it's really worth or if it's ever been played out? Definitely blue-eyed and the group did several garage/beat type stuff but this one is Northern Soul all the way! and certainly seems to be a hard one to locate. Sorry, can't do sound files.

The Wildweeds - It Was Fun While It Lasted
Not as good as their other one on Chess.... 'Can't You See That I'm Lonely'

The Beatles
The Buckinghams do a great Northern Soul rendition of 'I'll Be Back' on one of their L.P's... You know the one...."If you go, it would break my heart I know, but I'll be back again...."
-
The Beatles
Vontastics on St. Lawrence is a good Northern version too.

Price Guides
The UK dealers where being undercut so had to do something to wise up the USA dealers. It was clever to get the UK collectors to pay for this!

Price Guides
I managed to get Tim's book Sunday as my mate went up to Manchester to see him and brought one back for me. The prices in Tim's are well DOWN on John Manship's.......I'll take Tim's prices anyday!!!! I just hope those Yanks buy Tim's book! No 'B' sides is a downside in my opinion as you do sometimes see lists (from non-soul sellers who aint got a clue what they're selling) without the label number and listed as the other side so it can be hard work. The bootleg section is quick and straight to the point, easy to understand.

Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
Don't know you Ian but I respect what you do. A mate at work is a 'high energy' fan and loves your early/mid 80's stuff! Anyway, bought these two gems a few months back from my local record store: HERMAN GRIFFIN - NOT ONE CHANCE IN A MILLION (SWORD & SHIELD) 2001? THE SATINTONES - IT'S A ROUGH WORLD / HALF A MAN (STREET CORNER) 2001? Have to say...brilliant productions!

Would You Agree, This Is Northern
Some nice horns especially halfway through when it gets going a bit. If I stuck on a Northern Soul CD I'd probably put it on as the last track (being a bit sluggish). I'd buy it if it was cheap enough cos I like the horn work.

George Lemons
George Lemons 'Fascinating Girl' is on 'The Northern Soul Story 15'.....Cheapest way to get it on vinyl (unless it came out as a 45 on Goldmine or Kent?).

Am I Wrong To Let This Bother Me?
RCA took over the reins from EMI around 1979/80 when Frank Wilson was doing the rounds, I suspose they re-released it to satisfy needs, not really sure. I bought mine in 1980 at an allnighter, it has 'marketed and distributed by RCA LTD' around the edge of the label, I remember the seller had a few of them. It came in an orange (60's retro) Tamla Motown sleeve. My copy has a solid middle but as I said in my previous post, sunken rim around the middle. The first EMI UK copies never had that, and I think all were perforated pop out middles. I'm sure someone on here can confirm? 2004 saw it released on UK Tamla Motown again, this time with the unissued (well, officially anyway!) Chris Clark version. Distributed by 'Universal'....interestingly (or not to some people), the Frank Wilson side is another slightly different take to the 1979 issued 45.

Have we had the 'Elgins - Don't Wait Around' yet? I've probably missed some posts. Great tune that one Ian!- Am I Wrong To Let This Bother Me?
It's strange because there was that 45 (well, without the sunken rim around the perforated middle section which is how you tell it's an RCA copy) on ebay a few days back for a starting price of £40 (mint-ish) and no one touched it????? It was listed under RnB instead of Northern, wonder if that makes a difference? With 3 days still to go on the Frenchies it's gonna go for a bit. Wish I'd bought the £40 and stuck it on ebay with some speel (1965 etc)- Am I Wrong To Let This Bother Me?
