I have 3 dukays photos but the first two are from 1961 from before nolan chance (charles davis) replaced gene chandler. The third is from 1964 and nolan chance isn't in it either, I guess he must have left by then.
  2. unique blend are from toledo, at least one of the members was in the creations on mel-o-dy. thanks ady, I assume it doesn't exist.
  3. in a bunch of eastbound discographies there is a 3rd unique blend title, on the same number 626 as "mommy and daddy": 626 - Unique Blend - Sorrow / Won't Be Needing Someone New - 1974 This doesn't actually exist does it? I'm guessing it came from the company files somehow. Thanks in advance for any insight.
  4. ok i see they simplified their fee schedule. here it is. basically if you do a personal transfer it's free if you send via paypal balance or bank account, otherwise you can determine who pays the fees. there are additional fees for cross-border transactions as noted. I agree with the above post that if you're dealing with people you don't know it's worth doing a regular transfer and paying the 3-4% to get buyer protection. If you are dealing with a friend you can avoid fees via paying from a paypal balance or withdrawal and sending as gift. Fees Our fees are now the same for all accounts - Personal, Premier, and Business. Please note that the Purchase rate applies to all payments using Request Money. PurchasePersonal TransferPayGet paidSend moneyReceive moneyFree1.9% to 2.9% + $0.30 USD  Free when the money comes from PayPal balance or bank account. 2.9% + $0.30 USDwhen the money comes from a debit or credit card or PayPal Credit (the sender decides who pays this fee). Additional fees  for cross border payments and currency conversion.
  5. I did it the other day and sent as "money owed" and it didn't charge me if it was withdrawn from my bank account (but did if it was a credit card). Seller incurred no fees. However, their fee schedule is so complicated and changes in different countries and when sending money across countries (I'm in the US) that I would look on their site to confirm.

I think you could make up a story for either case, reissue or first issue, and nobody will know the truth since Sheppard is gone. Either way it's super rare and cool.
  11. Their biggest (and best?) record: For some reason though this is the one that gets played on Chicago radio now:

now that the record has been revealed through bad puns, can someone explain to me what it has to do with sheep? Am I thick or is it a british english vs. american english thing? I was trying to think of wolf-related records.
  14. I interviewed Rudy on the radio 11/2007. I talked to him a couple months ago.
  15. the implements is actually the first version of "look over", before the o'jays. The o'jays made it a hit though. i agree there's a vague similarity to "look on your face" but not much else. I think floyd smith shopped his song around to different people. It's likely the satin version was first because floyd took a lot of talent from Gary, IN and Lennie Satin was from there I think. WHO IS REGGIE SATIN?
  16. who is reggie satin?
  17. I hear nothing similar in the implements track, I'm not sure what you're talking about. Who is "Reggie" Satin? I'm very interested in Chicago soul but don't know a Reggie Satin. Thanks.
  18. also, for what it's worth, I've seen the sheet music for the John McKinney version (the one that got released as "the magnetics" when the magnetics are not backing him but some girls) and Johnny Dollar (who does a version on Fised) has writing credits on that. So who knows.
  19. satin is Lennie Satin who had a 45 on FIP. What does this track have to do with Look Over Your Shoulder?
  20. Sad news that Rudy Negron, lead singer of the Mystics on Teako died this week. He sang lead on "That's the kind of love", one of the greatest sweet soul records to come out of Chicago.
  21. Hi. Last Sunday I interviewed a singer named Bobby Buchanan, who was a member of the St. Louis group the Earles, Inc. and BJB. His group cut a bunch of excellent records and played an important part in the St. Louis music scene of the 60s and 70s. You can listen to the interview on my interviews page at https://www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews.html thanks, Bob
  22. Hi. Can anyone tell me what the flipside title is of memphis - inside my love - west coast 1523? thanks in advance.
  23. also, if i were set saleing this i would want at least $250 i think
  24. Yeah, I think the guy knows more about Jungle than anything else. Let me give some more background as to how I think the video is stupid. I think there are some interesting issues about ownership / copyright related to the record. For example, Spencer has 100% writing credit but it's really sort of a medley of Amen, We're a winner, We're rolling on, etc. (the Winstons had just left as the backing touring band of the Impressions, which is why they had an earlier record on Curtom). Spencer shouldn't really be 100% writer if it incorporates all those old songs. And, who really "wrote" the drum break -- probably the drummer himself and not Spencer. And Spencer clearly doesn't own any of the actual master rights to the metromedia recording. The guy who made the video clearly knows nothing about the difference between songwriter / publishing of a song and the actual master recording, ownership of both, and the complicated ways that both of these things interact with sampling. The video is very long and the guy spends more time discussing sample libraries that incorporate the track than these more relevant issues. The "ah-men" thing and the pressing the whole thing onto a record and playing it, combined with the fact that he made a very long video that says very little about some complicated issues, makes it over-the-top pretentious.
