stupid all platinum records releasing 9 billion singles to collect. i just bought some horrible stang test press by "mother of three", it's like a soft rock vietnam protest record. i didn't get it cheap too and I just needed the #. do you think it's the same groundhog as on Jad? here is a groundhog album, is it a reissue? https://www.gemm.com/item/GROUND--HOG/GOT-p-TO-p-GET-p-ENOUGH/GML1449457969/

I just got a totally different groundhog on turbo 016 which I haven't seen: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350460152075 He neglected to mention in the listing that the flip was blank. Anyone have this with a flip? Also, is there a turbo 45 discography anywhere? I've never seen one.

craig moerer recently (a year ago?) had copies of the dee and flo at like $250 or something like that (might have been lower, it definitely wasn't higher). They're gone now I think.
  5. i like the "when I grow old" side
  6. it's on ebay often, popsike is your best guide on this one probably
  7. no, I actually was saying that a "G" record CAN play as mint. Doesn't make the grade "mint" though.
  8. yes, this is what I was saying, I agree and don't see what's so complicated. Some visually mint records play terrible due to terrible pressings and some trashed records play without noise. If a record is visually G and plays perfectly, it's still "G" though, it could play mint. Also, why would that seller give a play grade if they have the audio clip that reveals all the information about play. What's not possible is to reveal all the information about the visual condition as even high-res pictures don't reveal anything, that's why you need a visual grade.
  9. this one i do see sometimes, not as rare as the drake record
  10. I don't remember ever seeing one with "radio station copy". It's not like a different color or anything so it could be something I missed, but I think it's still pretty rare.
  11. got it, they are different. thanks for your help, I appreciate it!
  12. Some of my favorites on the label: Players - "He'll be back" (chitown, lead singer Herb Butler told me that Calvin Carter was working A&R for Minit at the time and got them on the label) Pacesetters - "What about me baby" (killer bay area sweet soul) Turnarounds - "I need your loving" (awesome sweet cut from LA) Younghearts - "I got love for my baby" and "sweet soul shaking" (more LA)
  13. does anybody own this 45? I'm trying to find out if it's rock or soul. It sounds like a rock group and there were some rock / pop groups with that name from around the same time (a 60s garage group on paris tower out of florida and an LA? pop group on 20th century in '73). I can't find any references to the record on the internet apart from discographies except for one site that does have it for sale in their soul section. Can anyone tell me what it sounds like? Thanks in advance.
  14. nobody knows?

It is the same Gordon Keith. You can talk to him on facebook if you want. Steeltown actually had 5 different (partial) owners at different times. Maurice Rodgers, Gordon Keith, Lou Washington, William Spencer, and Ben Brown. By the end the label was ultimately only owned by Gordon Keith.
  16. Is anything known about this group? I'm wondering if they were somehow connected with the UK Foundations, as singer Colin Young apparently had a version of the group called the New Foundations in the 70s. The single was definitely recorded in the US, as George Kerr produced it. Both sides are written by A. Darling. I thought that if it is somehow connected to the UK group, someone here would know? Thanks in advance.
  17. More googling makes it seem like the group was from Newark, as it looks like Alvarez was from there and "newarkers" is in their name...
  18. Is anything actually known about the group the Nicky Newarkers? Are they from new york? are they connected to any other groups? Any members, etc.? Were they a hispanic group since they did a spanish version of one of their tracks? I see they were produced by Jesus Alvarez who was with turbo/stang, etc. Thanks in advance for any information.
  19. there is a scan with the "help wanted" side credited to huggy's ork above so I must be wrong
  20. Can anyone tell me if the Illusions on Showtime has vocals on it? Is "shake your mini" the same recording as the Showstoppers "shake your mini" on showtime? Does the funkey donkey side have vocals? Thanks in advance.
  21. I found the ebay auction and it's one artist on each side as you note. that must be it, there is probably only one press.
  22. one of the only album covers on my wall: the rest of my wall is covered with signed publicity photos though
  23. is the huggy's ork record the exact same recording as the mirettes?
  24. no you don't, unless you don't actually care about the visual condition of the vinyl
  25. I totally disagree with this. A "G" record can play mint, that doesn't make it mint. A photo of the label which may be clean (as in this case where it was specifically misleading) doesn't reveal the real condition of the vinyl. In fact, no photo can reveal the condition of the vinyl (you need to look at it closely in light to grade it) but some higher resolution ones can at least give you some idea.
