also, looking more at it, it looks maybe like a custom cut record from the 80s. There's a record store in Chicago, Beverly records, that used to do that for people. I can't explain why someone in california would cut that song though.

I saw that, he doesn't say where he got it. Either way, some odd things show up in different places. Maybe he will answer your questions, it doesn't look that odd to me though. Also, most red and black audiodisc acetates I've seen / had are early-to-mid 60s, are later ones usually like that -- most later ones I have or have seen aren't red and black (they also usually don't have a label like that though).

jim porter was involved with the david martin record also. it also came out twice on jay pee. i think they are 3 different versions. david martin was the lead singer of the chymes, the girls on the rekord record are his sisters.

Ron Murphy's story was that there was only a test press of 6 copies. If that's the case, they probably didn't go on to destroy anything, and it's not unlikely that only 2-3 survived.

Thanks everyone. Do you have a link to the forum discussion on van jones, I'm interesting in finding out more, I think I have almost all his 45s. I think the Fred Moss is the same group as the perfections on big b, F. Moss has writing credits on the perfections 45 and his voice sounds the same. I think the "got to get my broom out" was about clearing out his past and not about anything dirtier. The Unity I played was from New Jersey, produced by Fred White, same guy behind the Decisions. It has a good 70s northern side that I'll play on another show. Thanks.

I like how their only feedback is pretty much from buying a "learn how to sell on ebay" CD, plus that fake flowers seller was also from small town illinois, which is suspicious if the photo on this also isn't original.

which eight minutes 45s are you talking about? there are a bunch and there are 2 on perception. anyways, the eight minutes are good, I'm not sure what track you're talking about.

jim porter had a deal with perception, he previously took the eight minutes to the label.

Velvet is from Chicago, the Quadraphonics are from Milwaukee, there is no connection between the groups. Harvey Scales managed the Quadraphonics. I haven't confirmed this, but I think Velvet evolved out of the Flairs.

thanks. i have a copy which was dead mint when I got it (from this insane guy, his apartment was filled with strange antiques and a large shelf of lps that i'm sure he bought new and never played and kept mint), it's probably close to the same condition now. if someone wants to offer me a trade for it (e.g. in the line of group soul -- northern or ballad, or obscure chicago soul), that would work.

what are the recent ebay prices?

i can't tell you anything about this except that I don't think it's common because i would remember seeing it. bizarre record, almost country sounding. in fact, because of the sound, I would say that even as a rare record, it would still be available somewhere like gemm.com but it's not, so maybe that's an indication of its rarity?

i think i have another innerversion logo record but i would have to dig them out

Thanks, I always preferred the late motown and abc material to their early motown. I always thought motown promoted them as a pop group.
