  1. Stormy fully produced his own Twinight 45 when he was only 17 years old. He wrote the lyrics to Saxie Russell's "Psychedelic soul", produced and wrote the El Anthony 45s on Star-Vue, and was a member of the Lost Family (with two of the CODs). Check out the interview at: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews...y-3-18-2007.mp3
  2. Hi Steve. You have the optimistics 45 or you have the tracks? Because I have the tracks on the LP. Any chance of posting a scan of the 45 to confirm its existence? Thanks for any help.
  3. Yeah, I have the hold on record, was one of their hits. Wish I knew what shadow of a doubt sounded like. I had one more I forgot to list too: 6. Smash 2196 - Festivals - Hey Girl / Not gonna let her I obviousy know the hey girl from the blue rock, but I'd love to hear the flip of this if it exists.
  4. thanks, I have the optimistics LP too, sorry I was not clear about that. Never heard any of the other ones, though. It would be cool to have the optimistics on 45, but I think it would be known if it existed, as it would appeal to northern collectors. It's strange that it has a number, though, maybe it was intended for but never released.
  5. Scott, I have a double somewhere of the George McGregor 45 if you need it, email me. I have to dig it out. It comes up sometimes but isn't easy to find. There is a solo bronzettes on Double Soul, by the way, probably the same group as backing George McGregor. George McGregor was Billy's Brother, by the way, but is not the Detroit George McGregor, who is Billy's cousin.
  6. I've had these on my want list for a long time because I've seen listings, but at this point I don't think they exist. Can anyone confirm / deny the existance of any of these 45s: 1. Turbo 011 - Optimistics - You put something new in my life / man 2. Chess 2083 - Radiants - Shadow of a doubt / I'm so glad I'm the loser 3. Wand 12201 - Esquires - Whip it on me / It was yesterday 4. Okeh 7338 - Cheers - I'm glad I waited / Can't let you do it 5. Motown 1315 - Third Creation - Where do I belong / Penny Annie Fortune Lady Thanks for any help. If the record exists, I would love to see a scan. If it doesn't, it would still be awesome to know if audio exists in any form anywhere (e.g. it was an unreleased cut). Thanks.
  7. By the way, I have a good interview today that will be of northern interest, will post it up tonight....
  8. Thanks for the feedback. I don't think Barry played drums, he was just a label owner and producer. A couple of artists on his label told me he didn't even write "can I change my mind" for Tyrone Davis, which he is most famous for. He had a whole bunch of brothers, they had the reputation in the city of being gangsters. I don't think there were Opals / Vonettes connection. Did you see this website about Sandi Sheldon? https://www.spectropop.com/SandiSheldon/index.htm apparently a lot of the Sandi Sheldon "groups" were just Sandi Sheldon and Van McCoy. thanks, Bob
  9. I meant despenza produced, sorry I was not clear, but it was in response to a post asking about desepenza credits
  10. Paulette was NOT in the Ivories. Everyone else on the label was also not on the Ivories. The Traits were not in the Ivories. Willie Cager was not in the Ivories. All the Dispo artists were also not in the Ivories. If you want to know who was actually in the Ivories, listen to the actual members of the Ivories tell you who was in the Ivories in the interview I did: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews...-11-19-2006.mp3
  11. the anita anderson record is despenza, she just wasn't in the ivories.
  12. Scott: there are a bunch more contact records. You know there's two traits on the label, right, one as the original traits? I'm trying to think of some of the other ones, but I get them confused with dispo since it's the same label. I saw one the other day, it was a male artist on a gold contact label but i didn't get it, I'm going to hopefully go back and get it and I'll let you know, it looked like a deep soul thing though. there is a clip of paulette on manship's rarest of the rare, I think. There's a good record by willie cager on a cream colored contact too. There's some stock of that around so you should be able to find it, it's a nice cut.
  13. Anita Anderson was not in the Ivories, despite everyone having said that in the past. None of the members of the Ivories had heard of her or remembered her. Paulette was Paulette Despenza, by the way.

Bunky moved to La in the mid 70s, which is why that flavor/livin proof/triple s connection group was by him... also, since his SON Stan Sheppard was in the group! His son Stan was also in the Impalas on Bunky. What's weird is there's a foreign 60s soul record produced by Bunky, I think it's a group called the Marvels and it came out on a Belgian label.
  15. i don't know if this is an example of what you're looking for, but little richard had 'oh my soul' in 1958
  16. Bo Dudley explained to me the story behind his label name Dud Sound once. I don't remember exactly so I'm probably butchering it, but had something to do with a Muddy Waters quote about even being able to make a dud sound a hit.
  17. I searched ebay and found this, I've definitely seen a better version of the label where it was more readable and the script was bigger, but here's one version:
  18. the best label name I have ever seen for sure is a Doowop label called Fellatio. The text is all script, like to make it classy looking. I wish I had a scan now, I laugh every time I see it.
  19. a good starting point might be several regional soul discography websites on the web: www.ohiosoulrecordings.com www.dcsoulrecordings.com https://www.carolinasoul.org https://www.newyorksoulrecordings.com/ https://www.georgiasoul.com/
  20. that is a real German buyer, they bought from me when I had stuff on ebay, I doubt there was collusion with the seller, at least with that specific bidder.
  21. the seller is on this board so he'll probably reply. The label design is the same design as the common joyce lawson 45s on the label.
  22. I don't know who he is (I think he was just a writer who worked a bunch with Jo Armstead), but his name is James Louis Venson, he wrote a bunch of Jo Armstead / Giant tracks. If you search BMI, you'll see some of the other cuts he wrote.
  23. I guess if you're willing to pay money for the negative it would work, I didn't realize you were actually doing that. You're a very vengeful person!
  24. people always say this but this isn't true either, if you read the ebay policy it's "about" 90 days, they're unintentionally vague about it because they want to prevent feedback sniping. I think they even extend the time to respond to feedback once you get feedback on an item. Do a web search for feedback sniping, they're a lot of discussions about this. If the seller is flaky and takes a while to respond in general, it might work, but there's no like small window you can leave feedback that will not leave time to respond.
  25. That won't work. The feedback system favors the seller. If the seller files a non-payment notice on the item, the feedback is removed. Unless you intend to actually pay for the fake item you bid on, your feedback will be quickly removed.
