  1. I think it was booted pre-Stafford, so by that thinking would have been big before that. There were some strange boots cut in the mid 70s though - remember boots of Halos - Do I, you can pick up demo or issue on John Manship today for £30. At least this remained rare, think pink ones go for £300
  2. To my memory 'Baby Sugar I Love You' was the bigger played side it he mid 70s, perhaps 76/77. Dropped from most sets when it was booted I think. Regarding where, I think it was in sets at lots of nighters at the time, but can't be sure enough to quote specifics. Can be specific though about the Nottingham Palais all-dayers around this time, definitely a regular dance floor filler there. I don't recall Cut You Loose getting many plays until a revisited interest later, but can't be sure on that. Dean
  3. Just a shout that I thought R Kelly's performance on Later with Jools Holland tonight was well worth watching and listening, check it on iplayer etc. if interested.

I seem to remember it picking up a couple of early plays at a small club night in the East Midlands . . . . . . the loft, no, . . . . . . THE ATTIC, that was it.
  5. Images added to a gallery album owned by Dean in Albums 2011
  6. Demo much more desirable, £100+. Although I understand Pete Smith may occasionally sell them cheaper (apologies if memory fails Pete, I seem to recall you agreeing a sale once before realising)

You don't usually ignore anyone asking about "around the back" Kev? Me I'm more your UK "fanny" shaker Where the hell is Garry two g's when you need him, I understand he has a liking for good grammar.
  8. Just to update and perhaps draw a line . . . . . . Following a response from me regarding questions posed - I guess I was just trying to make a point: Dear musicman59, Postage cost stinks. On the basis of the $6 paid on another 45 today from USA would mean $29.45 insurance on a $42 purchase. I've paid because I have more honesty than you, you live with it. I got the following reply: we thank you for your comments we understand no problem - musicman59  You have to Laugh!!
  9. Are there genuine TWILIGHT demo's, original statement remains true - don't recall seeing many?
  10. Any price on TWILIGHT demo anyone? Issues still common enough, although often not in great shape, but don't recall seeing many of these.
  11. Problem is Dave this knowledge is competitive, and 99.5% of us know that we wouldn't have anything to add to your knowledge base. You need the 0.5% on here in your league, the usual suspects so to speak, then the time to get into 28,000 tracks on a database. Respect to you and best of luck.
  12. Great info, thanks Kris
  13. Just listened to Try Me on Refosoul (again referred to as TWILIGHT rather than TWINIGHT label ) and that's sounding the same as the Zachron 600. Sorry if I'm blowing up my own question here, perhaps a trick of memory when I pulled it out of the box to play. Interesting notes from TB tho'. I'll have find my TWIL(n)IGHT 100 and play them back to back . . . . . . . or wait until Lydon comes around .
  14. Intersting stuff. There's a mis-spelt TWILIGHT 103 ( Syl Johnson - Different Strokes ) but didn't know about 100. I've got the same number Zachron 600 Straight Love / Surrounded, same label design as the one Ken put up. What's been driving me to distraction is that when I gave Try Me ( Zachron 600) a play at home I thought it sounded different to when I've heard it out. That led me to look closer at some of the numbers in this confusing plot. I'd presumed Twinight 108 was the same song, never played it as I got it for the other side and never checked. Can't find my 100 to play. I'll check on Refo.
  15. Syl Johnson / Syl Johnson and Orchestra - Try Me, available on Twinight 100 (later edit for clarity Twilight 100), Twinight 107, Twinight 108, Zachron 600. Zachron 600 Syl Johnson and Orchestra; written by J. Cameron, S. Johnson, N. Meadows Different song to Twinight 108 (with the rather good version of I Feel An Urge as A Side) written by F. Bowie, J Ellison. Is the Twinight 100 a slightly different take to the Zachron 600? I'm sure I have one (Twinight 100) somewhere but can't find it. I presume the Twinight 107 is the same song as the 108? Third question - Steve Lydon have you nicked (or I gave you drunk) my Twinight 100? Got my anorak on today.
  16. Reply from my question: the price we quoted you is the price from united states postal service we require all over seas transactions to have insurance because we have had alot of ploblems with overseas shipping mainly theft so to insure everyone gets thier item this is what we now do - musicman59 That would roughly equate to the insurance on a $42 record being $29.45 . . . . . . fair enough.
  17. Similar Cookie. The deal was well below book price so can grin and bear the cost. The lack of up-front declaration pisses me off. I'm a hobby buyer and tend to trawl (when I get chance) the next 24 hours finishing times, not giving time for question answer. Notice the guy doesn't do returns either. One to watch for.
  18. Won a 45 on ebay from musicman59 for $42. Paying two from USA today postage on one $6, this one $35.55 To give the full picture there was no postage quoted in the description, or restictions on shipping destinations. Not until I went into "ask the seller a question" and got the ebay options for frequent questions re postage did it say "This seller doesn't offer international postage". I've sent a question asking if $35.55 is correct. Genuine opinions would be welcome, happy to told to pay up and should've looked deeper into postage. Often don't have time to look into it if not clearly stated though. Can put it down to experience. Just watch for seller if you don't want similar charges. Dean
  19. Think it's one of those that's hard to put a price on, and there's a big difference between auctions and lists/boxes. If your patient on ebay they go through without much fuss. Picked up a Ex clean demo last year for min bid $9.99.
  20. There's a clip on You Tube Pete, a little Yuro' esque https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9lsscJLnHs I've got £25 for a Ex (or near) copy if you come across one - although as i'm such a tight git you'd probably get more.
  21. Almost fell for this. I'm a shocker for not reading through descriptions well enough. Over excitement on my part, but thought it worth a shout to any fellow over-exciteables. Was just about to grab a Buy It Now, The Kavettes - I'm Not Sorry For You on OKEH for $29.99. A second look at the picture made me pause, only having half read the description: Rare and in demand original US Northern soul 7" single by the Kavettes. See scan. This is probably a 1976 boot issue for the Belgian popcorn scene. There is no stamped matrix number in the run out groove. Am I wrong to be at the obvious discrepency between "in demand original US Northern Soul" and the following sentance "probably a 1976 boot issue for the Belgian popcorn scene" Seller alicedayglow Garden of My Mind Records.
  22. I'm always slightly embarrassed by the notion that when Frank Wilson - Do I Love You was covered as Eddie Foster, and even booted as such on a IN boot as I recall, I had been collecting the SOUL label for a couple of years (harder in the days before ebay) and had written to Motown for a label list (long before PCs or google) I had gratefully received a phot-copied ledger list that had S35019 FRANK WILSON - DO I LOVE YOU (INDEED I DO) / Sweeter as the days go by on the first page of the list. The sender had kindly written NR at the side of any Not Released tracks. Frank Wilson didn't have NR written at the side, still have the orig list. As an under confident younger small time collector on the scene I pondered if there was any chance it could be but never voiced opinion for fear of being ridiculed for not knowing the as yet unknown to me Frank Wilson track. A bit more confidence could have uplifted my status in the day! I recall hours of juvenile "fun" with Rob Marriot and his friend 'Hoppy' on journeys to Wigan taking inspiration from shop names for c/u for the imaginary day when we were going to unearth the next Northern Soul big stomper (or Killer-diller as Rob would say), Dorothy Perkins was always a favourite waiting its day.
  23. Called in the other day to wonder in amazement at the neat racks of LPs, Felt a little low, as if something sacred had been spoiled as Rob said "There's Soul LPs over there Dean, and Rock LPs on this side". I winced at the order before me but was soon uplifted by Rob "This is only a fraction of the stockto get back into the place though". I think we can soon expect the cuustomary leaning towers of vinyl and the disregard for health and safety . . . . . bring it on. By the way, there were some good priced soul LPs if anyone wants to grab anything before they get buried. Worth a look.
