pm'd regarding AL DELORY, Dean- Records That Make Your Heart Smile
When the horns break kicks in on Cecil Washington - I Don't Like to Lose, could happily have a heart attack whilst dancin' at that moment, you'll always catch me grinning like a mad man at that point. Terry Callier - Ordinary Joe And . . . for very personal memory reasons Eddie Parker - I'm Gone Sooooooo F'in appy!!!- Dr Martin Luther King
Purposely put this in "Look At Your Box", but no problem with discussion, interesting contributions too. Here's a slight aside: Would it be acceptable "entertainment" to use a sample or run in from these speeches as a record intro. I'm not sure where I stand on this, some thoughts around reducing important history to entertainment, some thoughts around education via entertainment, some more basic thoughts about "showing off" a bit of Motown history and record ownership. Never used it but thought about it. Dave, have you got a scan/pic of the Lps you could post? I can recall one Gordy LP. Anyway, on purpose ... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .just to remember. Dean- Dr Martin Luther King
In anticipation of the 40th anniversary of Dr Martin Luther King's assassination in Memphis 4 April 1968, I thought this was a suitable tribute post. Dean- Fluffs Current Top 26 - 60's & 70s Oldies
Enjoy playing Billy Proctor out sometimes. Was prompted by number 8 Peggy Scott to go scouting through out of sight records. Somebody advised me to get this as a release in 1978 when local shop had some 12" in. I did ........ and really didn't like it. Just found it out now (took some looking) and ....... still really don't like it. Smiling at it now though. Clear vinyl 12" with the following in run out grooves: PIN73-12 AE2 tone A PETE WATERMAN WALLY MIX Back it goes.- The Lengths Some Go Too

Common sense should tell me not to get involved, I'm nobody to be policing any scene. I'm an anorak geek for labels, John Manship's full colour book and the much referred to Kev Roberts book are like porn to me, I dwell over them knowing I can't have most of them. I revell in the ones I have and look through my records sometimes just for the sake of looking at them. I'm also taken with many categories of art. I'm never going to own some of the paintings I admire. If I buy a print of a painting for my own pleasure then so be it. If I put that print in a frame that is like the original, I think I'm starting to tread a difficult path. If I sell that picture and frame on ebay - putting it out into the world, am I in part responsible for the third or fourth buyer along a chain being fooled into buying something they believe is genuine and isn't? In part I agree with the buyer beware philosophy but the facilities for forgery are more accessible these days. I feel a bit precious about the rare soul scene, it's been part of me longer than most things in my life. Some records are simply great works of music, some are even greater because they are so hard to acquire. I would prefer that those who care do what we can to celebrate and enjoy rare soul music, that may have been lost if not for this scene, and frown upon anything that cheapens it. I don't want to listen to a DJ playing boots under any disguise, I would prefer to think that the scene is important to that DJ, and part of that scene is rarity and the dedication of seeking out that rarity. But like I said, who am I.......- The Lengths Some Go Too
There was a similar musicor demo finishing around the same time, Marie Knight. I know, I know, this topic has more than done the rounds, but for some reason I found this getting to me tonight. I don't think sellers can get morally let off so easily. On a scene built around rarity selling blatant forgeries has to be questionable at best. Both items had the same buyer. I don't get it - why fool yourself? I rarely don't like these and wish buyers wouldn't. In saying that I have to acknowledge that I purchased many a bootleg pressing in the 70s. Perhaps my concern is linked to technology making duplication easier, and the world market for records will see someone getting ripped of with these along the line. In producing them you must know the potential for abuse. Perhaps I'm just feeling grumpy tonight.- Soul Shack Every Sunday Starpoint Radio
Stick with it Mark, I think it can take a few months for this time to become the habit time that Solar was. Need to get used to setting the alarm in my head for 10.00 on Sunday. Found it useful to have starpoint on-line whilst I catch up with a few days bargain snapping on ebay. Show is just as good as ever, best wishes, Dean.- Marvin Holmes, Clarification Please
Thanks Steve, appreciate the reply. Not quite sure of some of the stuff purchased as a "youth", seems like everything was £1 - no doubt with change for fish-and-chips. Sometimes like to put htis into a spot and wanted to make sure. Dean.- Marvin Holmes, Clarification Please
Marvin Holmes and Justice, You Better Keep Her, (Brown Door). Are Vinyl with moulded label authentic issues. There's a stamp in run out that looks like TLC inside a square box surrounding letters. Thanks in anticipation, Dean- Dry Well - Gypsy

just missed one on ebay tonight, trying to get a snap at $28.50 went at $29.50 . . . . . . always the bridesmaid!- A Little Bit Of The Dkof On The Beeb At 6pm
Thanks for posting this Sister Dawn, would've missed this, missed first 30 mins but it's on playback. Oooh wait a minute, it's the half-past-forcast, I think Ray has just done the traffic report, traffic flowing fine by the sound of it. Sounding a bit Partridge, but the DKoF playlist is sounding, as you'd expect, blooooooody greeeeaaaaat.- Been Collecting On And Off
Sounds good Paul, don't recall having heard it before myself. You bringing it along in May, small room big volume!! Agree with the sentiment too. I'm not able to justify affording four figure records so have retreated to the happy place of searching for affordable quality. Kev and I were joking at the weekender that some in my box just might be rare, we don't know 'cos nobody else is looking for 'em! Happiness still comes in 7". Look forward to seeing you soon, Dean.- Keep My Woman Home Vs Give In
Just an attempt to solicit any info on the other side of my original question. Then I'll "Give In" and go get my ears cleaned out. Sound file further up thanks to Mak and Sebastian.- Keep My Woman Home Vs Give In
thanks for contributing the sound files Sebastian and Mak, still curious - Bottom Drawer Sales
