  2. Hi Steve Sorry, and happy to be corrected. That makes absolute sense - and it did seem odd when I read that after checking it out - might have been on discogs. The orange just looks righht doesn't it. But, as I'm always pissed I may well have read it wrong. I'll check it out again later. As you say BTIB is a stunning soul record - so simple as well really. Great voice has old Frankie/Larry - note the diffferent spellings of his surname on the two releases as well. Cheers Steve Peter
  3. Hi Mate I think there may already be a lengthy thread on here about that very subject. Peter
  4. Is it just me who rarely flips a record to play the usually unknown flip? Doh! Came across something on you tube a bit back and have only just cottoned onto the fact that I have the record - but to me it was a flip side I've never played or heard. So, a great double sider from me today. Frankie Sanders - Take Another Look - the played out side which is great. But flip it and you get a stunning piece of southern soul - Blues time in Birmingham. Can't believe it's still such a cheapy. The one in the youtube clip is a second press - I have it on the Juana. think I like the Sho Me lable more! Give it some proper volume and bass! Peter
  5. Which Lincoln do mate - whom of the Lincoln lots do? Seem to recall you mentioning an RB evening a while back. i know some people from Lincoln which is why I ask. P

That's what I thought. Before embarking on a very sucessful and illlustrious solo career. Never crystal clear about who sang which song at HM and the BNs
  7. Get Swifty on it - he's always breaking fecking records! He's not a million miles away from you either - ovver bridge and yer nearly there! Peter
  8. You can't say it's a wang fangled modern phenomonen though - that 12 is nearly 40 years old! I don't know much but does that make that a pretty early 12 release? Peter
  9. I think they're two different records - and the first theory you heard is corrrect. It's Valentino's first record without Bobby. Bobby has obviously recorded it himself - without the Valentino's. That's a decent story for a Friday night. Peter
  10. There's one here for a few quid https://www.ebay.com/itm/BOBBY-WOMACK-CAN-UNDERSTAND-HARRY-HIPPIE-12-VINYL-MINT-/281006011957?pt=UK_Records&hash=item416d437635
  11. They sound totally different Martyn. I'm not even sure that it is Bobby on that clip you posted - it's a half decent impersonation, but i don't think it's him. I might well be wrong. I've not played my 12 for years and actually - it's bloody good! I'm rubbish at techy stuff - I'll have a think about how I might post it up. It's interesting. Peter
  12. That sounds really different from a clip I played earlier from youtube - hang on I'll go and get the 12 on - it's deffo Bobby - erm, maybe not deffo?
  13. Bit of a different post from me I guess. I surprised myself with how much I liked R Kelly's Chocolate Factory album - it is superb. So, perhaps a tad controversial - I don't know? Here's Step in the name of Love from the album. I like it. Peter
  14. Interesting Martyn The twelve is accredited to Bobby only - no mention of the Valentino's. It's a UK 1973 United Artist release - it looks brand new! Peter
  15. Just found an odd 12 inch - odd in as much as I must have bought it blind yonks ago. It's Bobby Womack and an extended version of I Can Understand It with Harry Hippie on the flip. Didn't know either side way back then - not hugely keen on the a side but I have grown to love Harry Hippie. So, I'll post that. Poetry from the master. Peter
  16. Hi Martyn You know this will get the thumbs up from me - Sir Dickie in his pomp indeed. Wasn't it covered as James Lewis and the Case of Tyme - or summat similar. Peter
  17. I don't think I've posted this before - wrote a post it last night to remind me. Got a few Teddy P albums - I think this is from one of his first, it's certainly the first one of his I bought and probably one of his finest. Teddy Pendergrass The Whole Town Is Laughing at Me Peter
  18. Not sure mate - I have the album. Coincidentally there is a post it note on my deck reminding me to post up one of Teddy's tracks later.
  19. Yep, enjoyed listening and being involved in the chat room. Well done Charlie and yes keep at it Nick - great stuff. Peter
