  1. Do you speak for the masses? There's a Reggae forum on here, you know what? I've never looked in it once, nothin against it just not my bag, but I don't get the urge to go in there and tell em!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. It's a classic, no getting away from that, but thinking about the overplayed comments, yes it's been hammered, but in the last decade, at least round these parts, no more hammered than Ruby Andrews, Dells (run for cover) Moses Smith etc, (probably less) at even the most oldies of oldies nights, but it's a classic as in a classic example of a tune getting danced to and accepted by Joe Public and that will never do will it? Pete E
  3. Just back from Donna's, hope she reads this, That's what I was trying to say Jayne, but this internet thing can throw ya, but till now I didn't consider that it was the internet, tended to look at the birthdays on here as a true indicator, Feel a bit better now Pete E
  4. I reckon that's a good call Jayne, I'm 48 and always thought that was about average, and when I was in my 30's it felt as if I was at the younger end of the scale, but I have noticed with the birthdays shown daily on here, loads more younger than older, at a guess 70% younger than me, so maybe it is an internet thing, doesn't help when reading the birthdays though Pete E
  5. Well there you go, I didn't know that, and I guess i'm not alone, which I suppose questions the term 'pop standard',
  6. If I may ask where and when was 'Blues in the night' regarded as a 'pop' standard, not saying it wasn't just not aware of it, Pete
  7. Well I can't give a long articulative opinion on '16 tons' but what I will say is, regardless of it's merits (or lack of) musically or it's dance floor reaction, those that champion it should in future refrain from complaining about the having to travel/pay to hear the top 500 NS tunes, most forty/ fifty somethings in any enviroment will recognise TEF, so all the theories about the 1000's of tunes out there just waiting to get some turntable action and be appreciated go's right out of the window, I know it's only one tune but if that's allowed or accepted then anything is, PE
  8. Unfortunately I'm to young for this, for a while anyway Could you play some Des O'conner for my mate Rod?
  9. never fails to make me What colour sleeve is yours in Rod????????

  12. Is there any difference in availability/rarity in the different text size? Seem to remember reading somewhere the larger text is slightly harder to find? Pete E

Chris, this is often the case, but in many cases a DJ can change tack to suit the event/night, agree that some jocks have a particular style and taste, but sometimes it might be better to research the event rather than the jocks,
  16. Just a thought (can't really help with regards to insurance) but why lock your boxes indoors? The way I see it 'any' burglar would be curious as to the contents, hence the 'havoc', whereas most burglars would have no interest in old records, unless that's the reason they are there, in which case they would just take the boxes, I suppose as they were locked you were lucky they didn't take em just out of curiosity, Most burglars would be 'interested' in anything with a lock on,

Not really in any camp here, just like what I like, but having skipped through this thread am I right in thinking the way forward is to play music we aren't to enamoured with in the car, at home, repeatedly untill it becomes bearable or maybe likeable or easier to listen to? Doesn't sound like much fun to me, ok stuff can grow on you but in general I usually know if I like something, I agree it's a good way of hearing fresh stuff, but to keep playing it till you like it? surely not!!!! Don't be worrying about doing what you enjoy, as long as it harms nobody else, that goes to all of us,

    You are never right Leon
  19. I'm a plasterer so mines easy - any remix
  20. I only joined in to point out that 2 weeks ago RS played OVO at Blackburn which was mentioned at that point in the tread ,this was 2 weeks ago which is closer to 'now' than Prestwich which was about 8 years ago, wish i hadn't bothered now
  21. There was a cd player in use at the Prestwich radio 2 night, for the use of a particular DJ, but it wasn't RS, sir!
  22. Sorry MATE as you said 'these venues' and as Blackburn was being mentioned I foolishly thought Blackburn may have been included as it was 2 weeks ago (now?), and yes you are wrong regarding Prestwich, peace
  23. If you say so Mark, but it works, and they do resist the temptation to move even slightly away from the policy required, although they have the resources to do so, just my take on it,
