Common Labels/rare Records.?
There's really nothing rare on Atlantic/Atco?

Common Labels/rare Records.?
I think one of the scarcer '60s Wands is Gary Weston, Red Feather Basket/I Should Say Not. It's not soul, though...more like wild Coasters-style novelty R&B.

Common Labels/rare Records.?
I amongst us own this 45! It has to be in my top 5 deep soul records. Spine-tingling. I think No. 1 is the aforementioned Curtis King. Who amongst us owns THAT?

Common Labels/rare Records.?
Of course, we all know that the opposite is true, too: A completely trashed-looking styrene record will often play nearly perfectly, while a brand-new vinyl record will have crackle and hiss. I find that Stax vinyl records, to cite but one example, often have this problem. Also: I've heard cue-burned, distorted styrene records play just fine after the stereo needle was swapped out for a mono one, which rides the grooves in a different place.

Common Labels/rare Records.?
I got my copy of the rare Joe Hicks from a VERY well known U.K. dealer out of his catalogue for maybe £10 at the most 15 or so years ago.

Rarest I know of on Virtue (not an acetate but an actual 45 release) is Little George and the Mixed Generation.

Morocco Music Makers - Pig Knuckles (Motown)
It's a pretty cool instrumental. Rarely see it for sale these days, but as Bob said, if it does come up you probably won't have much competition.

List Of Wants For Injured Friend
Hi, on behalf of a good friend and sometime DJ partner, Jonathan Toubin, who was badly injured in a freak accident in early December and remains hospitalized, I'm trying to find copies of the following records, which were destroyed by the car that ran him over in his hotel room (yes, you read that right) in Portland, Oregon, USA. NOTE: I am NOT asking you to donate records to someone you probably have never even heard of; I'm happy to pay to assist my buddy, who is the most generous person I know. But considering the circumstances, low prices appreciated! Please message me with prices. (Here are some of the details of what happened: https://www.spinner.com/2011/12/09/dj-jonathan-toubin-taxi-hotel/ ) I have rounded up half a dozen or so singles and am still looking for the following: The Mustang part 1 & 2- Joe Brown The Lonely Surfer/ Song for a Summer Night- Jack Nitzshe Living Legend part 1 & 2- Florence Farmer Underdog Backstreet/ Like a Women- Warren Lee Tear it Up 1&2- Billy Wade and the 3rd Degrees I've got a Right to Lose my Mind/ If Only You were Here- Margo White (NOT SURE WHICH LABEL OR WHETHER THERE'S A DIFFERENCE; IS THERE?) I Said No- Pat Clayton Barefootin' Boogaloo/ Soul Sister- Robert Parker Willie Knows How/ It's no use to Try- Willie West with the Jades Mama's got a Brand new Box/ Soul Bowl- Willie Norfor Homework- Otis Rush Thanks, Matt Weingarden

Richard Berry On Amc: 2 Very Different Versions
I have a feeling no one on here will give a rat's ass about this record, but... I've long had two copies of "Go Go Girl" that look identical except for the song times and the scrawling in the runout grooves. But I'm so disorganized that this moment is the first I've had them both in hand simultaneously in years! The one on youtube is the second version, judging by the runout groove: AMC 1428-2 Here it is: The other version, the one I prefer, clocks in 30 seconds longer (or at least that's what the label says) and has no strings or rhythm guitar, and the tenor sax doesn't come in until the solo. It's a much sparser arrangement, in other words: just those heavy drums, piano, and baritone sax. Backing vocals aren't quite as prominent, either (I think). Can't do a sound clip, unfortunately. Runout groove says AMC 1428. Oh, B-sides are totally different arrangements too. I guess this went on a lot, but I'm always fascinated by the effort, the time, and the money that went into records that weren't hits in any incarnation (best example I can think of is the THREE versions of Carol Jones on Mutt). Or who knows, maybe they sold some copies locally.... Ignore away!
