  9. "Till You Decide to Come Home"/"My Dreams Have Got the Best of Me"...two great sides, both also done by the Detroit Emeralds (their "My Dreams" is LP-only, I think). Anyone like it/play it? There don't seem to be many copies around, which surprises me. Never thought it was rare, but try finding one online....Anyone know the going rate for this?
  10. yeah, it came out on cherry red, too. don't think it's the exact same recording as on money, though. never heard the generation one....

  12. hi, ady. i once had a mint copy of this, and put part 1 of it on a compilation i did several years ago called "vital organs." i no longer have the 45, but the comp is easy to get hold of and we made a very clean transfer. we licensed the track from arthur wright. best, matt

  22. no, not selling either the ten-inch metal acetate or the seven-inch vinyl i pressed up to dj with, mik! i think we can all agree that the worst version of "destroy that boy" is by the what four on capitol...appears on that rhino girl group box of a few years ago.
  23. i'm lucky enough to have an acetate that came from ollie mclaughlin of another unreleased version of "destroy that boy" that stomps all over this one. far as i know the one discussed above was unreleased too till it came out on grapevine. omack was o(llie) mack(laughlin)'s label. you can hear what i think is the superior version here: https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/19632
  24. ha. nice one. isn't this the allegedly more common label design? plain one without football player much tougher, right?

also in (or at least wrote both sides of a single by) a k.c. group called the derbys: any old way/the huckster man. really good r&b. predates dyke and the blazers by several years, as i'm sure the carpets do as well. the article quoted in this thread is clearly wrong about that being the start of his musical career.
