  1. 1 more to add James Knight & Butlers "baby please pretty please" Cat 200UK ex for the play surface but see note below rare record just sold on ebay for $580. presed slightly off centre so a bit of care needed when queing up but plays prefect. I think a few are like this. Fantastic laid back 70s sound prehaps about to have its day ? dylan
  2. 6 records for sale here Hartfield Bros "Sweet somebody / changes we go through" Boola Boola 100UK SS plays perfectly, changes has light styrene noise when vocals hit the hgih notes but its nothing to intrusive and still vey enjoyable. Light marks on both sides nothing deep so grades vg ++ / vg + Passions "Time is a natural / what am I to do" Cylyn 150UK Time is a bit like a failked motown record to me. Gilr group with horns and big drums in backing. What am I to do sounds far better to me and could work on todays floors ? a more mid tempo track with a touch more class. vg++ light marks NAP. Rare record i think ? Doc Oliver "Going through a change of love" Lucky Labels 100UK WOW !!! what a barnstormer of a 45 this is. rarely hear it played out and its just awesome messy northern. Only visually graded vg- lots of surface marks but plays very well after a bit of crackle on intro. This is all over before track gets going and not realy that noticeable. i think for M- i'd be looking at trying to get 250 / 225 may be wrong ? Shppard Bros "Messing with my mind / hold me closer" Gaye 125UK Collectable georgia label. Messing is that blend of funk and soul that I like. Hold me closer is a god deep soul side. Grades M- visdually plays as it was made but its a budget press so perfect production. I guess they must all be like this ? George Freeman "Down and out" Valiant 125UK well knwon beat ballad on purple issue seems cheap to me. vg++ Baby Dave Grenlee "We need love / bout my babys love" Steel City 150UK 2 great mid tempo sides of real quality. Grade M- thanks for looking.
  3. never said it wasn't not sure how my reply reads but to me it reads like i'm agreeing with you. its a different mix I just wasn't sure it sounded fresher that was all.
  4. vocal does sound further back but could that just be the quality of the mp3 ? don't think it sounds fresher than the 45 thoough. so how do you establish provenance with an acetate like this ?
  5. been watching that auction myself and was curious enough to ask tommy some questions via e-mail. but it would need to deep soul side for me to be interested.

also a copy on funk forum as we speak for $150 which seems about right price to me. certainly wouldn't pay anything like 150UK myself. Can't see it doubling from that price either.

had both sold one and I see one of the two popping up for sale a lot more than the other. so its either easier to find or people move it on ? not sure which.
  8. 800, thats what I thought so i've lost touch with the pricing on that 45 a bit (lot) then.
  9. I hope that happens to me this week
  10. didn't carmelita used to sell for a lot more than that or am I getting it wrong ? have a steady flow been turning up since the first few.....

this is looking like its going to end one way.... I don't think you are being a cynic. Unless we both are saying that though it is a good record.

and I played it in sweden a good few years ago... looks like its going through a bit of a revival. not nearly as good a charles carlson though
  16. nothing to do with when the record was made more about how much exposure its had on the modern scene IMO. so an 80s record could have been hammered and be widely known so thats a modern oldie and a 70s track can have been recentlky discovered a therefor a modern newie. Even though its the older of the 2 thats how I see it anyway....
  17. whats guide price chalky I stopped geiing then at vol 3. should probably get a new one realy. Always very good as a reference guide.
  18. we will find out soon.
  19. just want to add he hasn't sent me any mp3s.
  20. no but I did I'm sure those that want it are already well aware by now. I've requested a few mp3s from that seller myself as he always lists interesting looking records. I think with soundclips his auctions would do a lot better make more money for him.
  21. not the best time to ask when an auction is currently running.....
  22. if buyer marks the payment as a gift then the seller doesn't get hit with 4% fees so you both gain. this option isn't always available though but when it is its faiest for both parties. I only found out this recently myself.
  23. yes it records in real time and then you save file as a wav to burn. so you have to have a spare 2 or 3 hours to grab it.
  24. my copy was free and yes its very easy to use. you should be able to find a download on internet somewhere.
