  1. Fast reliable internet and demand in sweet soul sides have both played a big part for me. you can be in instant communication with Japan, America and Europe at the same time. i used to enjoy looking through the record boxes on a night out but the internet saw a decline in traffic in record bars IMO. there was still some trade but it slowed it down its so much easier to do it from home.
  2. Is there any connection here to the artist willie mcdougal who recorded on Kinard ? and also as billy Mack on Tina.
  3. I would say pretty much every LP by Bobby Womack will have some great soul music on it. Also all the Randy Brown LP’s all should be cheapish
  4. I’d say poets gives it a strong run for its money I love some of Tommy ridgleys records but have never fully clicked with this side. the Matt brown is also great both sides the B side a great alternative to the pep brown version.
  5. Apologies if this has already been on you get 2 fantastic sides on this great cheap record
  6. Mal this is a tru glo town beat ballad i used to rave about which also never got the reputation it deserves. From such a well known artist as well.
  7. I’d say if you rate it at 5k you could get 3k with not much effort but that last 2k would be the struggle. the great cheap records how ever good just don’t bring in money like the big ticket 3 figure records.
  8. I’d put a bit of time and effort into selling the most in demand and valuable records individually then slowly loose the will to live with shifting the rest and end up keeping it.
  9. Yes I did all those crazy things. Phone calls to America in the middle of the night as well. loosing internet connection with 20 seconds left on auction and nearly throwing computer out the window as you saw a great record sell for a fraction you were prepared to bid.
  10. I think thats a really good record tragar was a record label i would always check out if i found one. i'm not suprised by that price.
  11. Best is can remember was 2 dollars to the pound and also 4 dollars airmail to get a record from us to uk meant buying cheap records one at a time was possible. then the increase in value of records after these times as er changed.
  12. 2 memorble records from gemm for me were the rayons and tony ashley on decca i was actually trying to remember the name of this site only the other day.
  13. L.v johnson is a fantastic singer. also worth checking out "its not my time" this is another great deep soul ballad on the ica label that is very cheap.
  14. I’ve never seen that type of auction before. Going one bid increment above previous highest bidder seems much fairer to me. is the current highest bid there for you to see when you decide how much you want to bid ?
  15. Used to get some great bargains off the e-mailed list. with tim’s knowledge I sometimes wonder if he slipped a few bargains there on purpose ?
  16. I thought it would have started to reverse by now. i’m astonished It’s gone as far as it has and shows no sign of reversing.
  17. As a follow on to buying good cheap records I was thinking about things I saw regularly and cheap post 2000 that are now dried up and commanding higher prices. 3 from me all bought for 10 dollars or less that I used to see quite often. So not things that were dear that I picked up cheap at the time. roy Roberts “you move me” webs “hard to break a habit” symphonic four in Zudan
  18. Here’s a fantastic mid tempo gem “are you sure” https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/7504542?ev=rb eddy Jacob “turn me loose” is phenomenal deep soul with a cracking uptempo flip should be anywhere between 2 and 5 gbp
  19. Is ty Karim to obvious to suggest ? i guess it is.
  20. As an aside things sounding like other things... there is a current ad running on tv with a dance music style beat. But for the first couple of seconds it sounds as if Lou pride “coming home” is about to start. the track goes off to be quite different but just for a second the drum beat sounds very similar. anybody else noticed ?

Trickers tramping shoes very similar to above comes in all sole types and lots of different uppers. https://www.trickers.com/uk/m7906.html most uk shoe companies will have a style like this its a classic shape.

Is it something off here you are looking for ? https://www.solatio.co.uk/ i have not heard to term crossover relating to shoes but it gets a mention on above. for smart casual now i would wear a pair of cheaney or trickers brown leather brogues. Timeless and very well made. Cost quite a bit but last years.
  24. Getting this new copy alongside one of the other copies and studying them for any differences ? Run out grooves, stamps etc etc the label does appear to be a quite different blue but lots of things can cause that.
  25. I’ve had exact same model since 94ish and they really are excellent and well worth the money being asked. i wasn’t sure if they still make them and a quick google search took me to this new release mk7 at an eye watering 900gbp which in the review doesn’t sound as good as the older models like the one here. https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/technics-sl-1200sl-1210-mk7
