  1. Taking the p*ss IMO. May they fail miserably in all they do.
  2. Kevinkent

    snoozy!

I wondered where Dave had gone.
  3. What's the problem? None of the replies are malicious. It's just good information that's worth sharing. Nowt wrong with that. - Kev.
  4. Not the O'jays, but same era, try O'Kaysions.....Girl Watcher It's in Refosoul but I forget how to include it in a post. - Kev
  5. Another 5 from me: Sonny Craver.....Outside Of Memphis.....Dalya Butlers.....Laugh, Laugh, Laugh.....Phila Rufus Wonder.....Under The Moon.....Lendo (Having re-read the Lendo/Lando thread on here I'm still uncertain about this) Willie Mitchell.....Mercy / Everything Is Gonna Be Allright.....London (2 club tunes from my youth which I'd totally forgotten about! Nice to hear them again.) Freddie Scott.....I'll Be Gone.....Shout - Kev.
  6. £12 for a full nights entertainment is good value I reckon. What time you leave is up to you, but I wouldn't begrudge some hard working promoters, or the dj's (who spend far more on vinyl and travelling than they earn from their spots) a single penny. I had a residency which it cost me to travel to and never gained a penny from it but the promoter still dropped the door tax to less than a fiver. Who wants an empty niter venue from 2am 'cos of the tight-wads leaving early to save a few pennies? Concessions for those who have arrived from a soul nite "warm-up" is a different matter maybe as those folks are gonna hang around for a good few hours - or hopefully 'til the end. - Kev
  7. You'll get the hang of it - this should have been posted in the " Ebay and Website Sales Links " section. Your previous attempt has been moved there. If you delete this thread and go to your thread that has been moved, you can edit it there. Before you do that, go to your ebay sales and copy the link to YOUR sales, rather than just the general Ebay link. Then paste that link into your edit so that we can go directly to your sales. If you have problems with that then provide your ebay seller name so that we can find it ourselves. - Kev
  8. No, this IS the right place, but you really could do with editing your first post to include a link to your ebay sales. - Kev
  9. You got it in one Paul.
  10. The name rings a bell mate but the old grey matter isn't what it used to be.lol. Chances are I'll get to the re-union and won't remember any bugger there!
  11. Gibby, I sort of took it for granted you'd be on at any Wilby re-union. I'll look forward to seeing you there along with a few other faces. If anyone there can tell me that I went to Bletsoe or Kelmarsh I'll believe them ! Like has been said by others - was never sure where I was or how I got there in those days.lol. I've been informed that the Wilby re-union date has had to be changed to 23rd July, at The George of course. - Kev.
  12. I'm still looking. Just missed one on ebay for £37. Went to confirm my bid in the dying seconds and got directed back to my login so missed it! - Kev.
  13. Dave, there's a new edition of That Beating Rhythm coming out this year apparently so I'm gonna wait for that. I haven't seen Glen Bellamy for a while but pretty sure I've seen his name down for dj'ing somewhere. There's a "40yrs of Northampton Soul" do on this year, and I've heard of a Wilby re-union too, so he'll surely be on at one of those? - Kev.
  14. I think he has.........." Monster " - Kev.
  15. I think this photo was taken at Bletsoe: I can't name the faces though. Anyone? And this is The George at Wilby, minus the exterior stairs: - Kev
  16. Latest five from me: Lee Tilman & The Secrets.....She's The One I Love.....Whit Nina Simone.....It Be's That Way Sometime.....RCA Victor Clay Hunt.....Your Love's Gone Bad.....Bay Sound Mel Carter.....Deed I Do.....Imperial (99cents, what a bargain!) James Brown.....Money Won't Change You.....King - Kev.
  17. Nice one Paul, you beat me to it! . Didn't want to hijack Bearsy's thread before but If anyone else is looking to offload a copy - I'm still looking for one. - Kev.
  18. What?................................. 142 views and I'm the only one to offer a response?! So much for encouraging the next generation eh. C'mon people can't we give a bit of encouragement or constructive criticism, or even derision if you must - anything is better than apathy. - Kev
  19. Well I'm impressed! To be honest I wasn't expecting too much, but was pleasantly surprised! A lousy recording though and I,d like to hear/see a more proffesional one. This reminds me of when I saw Al Supersonic & The Teenagers in Valencia - I felt obliged to go and see them and had low expectations but was completely blown away. Is that the lovely Emel fronting you - two sourcers in one band? It seems the scene is flourishing in Lucern. I thought the drummer looked a bit scruffy though - Kev.
  20. Hi Gibby, how's it going mate? I think some who advised him have just got a few minor details confused - unintentional errors that probably wouldn't be picked up by anyone that wasn't involved in any particular incident, and which certainly doesn't detract from a good read. Whatever happened to Mick Rooney? Did he get into the scene other than localy? Only seen him once since this photo as we moved abroad shortly after......
  21. Dave, I had a copy of That Beating Rhythm until it got nicked. I had filled the margins with scribblings to correct Paddy Grady's inaccuracies with a few names and dates. A fascinating trip down memory lane despite that, and I must get another copy. - Kev.
  22. Hey Henning, the Youtube clip shows "not available". Searched Youtube for "The Choons" and a couple of clips came up - but that's not you on drums, so a different band I guess. - Kev.
  23. Is the guy, centre of three in the top right photo, Chiefy from Luton? My memory is crap now so I could be wrong, plus he had shorter hair when I knew him from his visits to Northampton. Also, I thought Smelly George was a bit of a regular at Wilby for a while. I still remember the time he was outside collecting for the "Save The George" fund (i.e. he had no dosh but wanted to get to The Wheel). - Kev.
  24. Hi Kev, Sure I'd heard that some U.S. releases were subsequently pitched up before being released to a UK market - so not as originally intended? Anyway, you're right I am really talking about pitching up on the decks. Could really do with some examples of tunes that are/could be pitched. Anybody?
  25. But how were they intended Kev? Weren't some of the early TMG hits pitched up for the UK releases during the production stage? If so, we never heard them as they were intended, it's just that someone other than a dj made the decision that faster was better for a particular scene. - Kev
