  2. How much "time" have you got.......there must be thousands
  3. Say no more squire.... say no more. It was made to skip
  4. Think the only way is a really good clean unless it's inherent in the record. Isopropyl alcohol and a good cleaning cloth should do the trick. If that doesnt work, then its more likely to be in the pressing and you aint gonna do diddly squat about it other than two pence on the needle (not recommended). Maybe a higher grade stylus would help but its no good if you want to play the 45 out Steve
  5. ....and just in case you think this a put down of the scene, it's far from it Steve
  6. Thank God for that..... I am normal Love CeeLo and he's got a far better voice than some of those on the records that we value so dearly. OK, they are rare but come on, in many cases they are rare for a reason and I'm sure I don't need to explain why Steve
  7. For the intro: I love Soul music, I love Northern Soul music... always have and always will I've been into it almost 40 years. I would even go as far as to say that I love all variants of soul music. However... this is the question. Have I moved on too far where liking the something such as the Kanye West / Jay Z album is a step too far. I think its a brilliant piece of production. It uses samples from such soul heroes as Otis and Curtis. I'm also drawn to the Amy Winehouse / Adele / Paloma Faith sounds, simply because they are soulful. Whats wrong with blue eyed soul? Does that make me an outcast bearing in mind, like I said originally, my roots are within the Northern / Modern soul origins. Same with (and yes there has been a thread about this recently) the fashion side of things. What is wrong with keeping up to date music wise and letting those that will delve into the musical archives to plunder our soul heroes work but yet move on with the music / fashion world of today. Hope that makes sense Steve
  8. What ever happened to Tony "The Vicar" Clayton apart from the obvious which went on at the time?
  9. Think Mr Rix has the full inventory on this one if my memory serves me right. Cooooeeeeee Andy.... where are you? Steve

...............And what about Lainie Hill "Time Marches On". That was huge for a while at the Palais until it went, as we would term today "Viral". Best Steve
  11. Hi Dave, You may want to try Ian Clark in North Walsham. Not only does he deal in records but also Miltaria. Check out his site https://ianclarkmusic.com/ Best Steve
  12. Flighted means that strips of angled metal (aluminium normally) are secured to all the joints on the carcass. All faces are covered in an aluminium sheet and on all the corners have protectors added. Steve

  19. Wigan was never the "Demon Child". It was the benchmark. It happened at a time when the Tv industry started taking notice in underground music... hence the documentary. I still maintain, had it not been for said documentary, we would not have had so many people join the scene at the time. How many stayed... who knows but what it did was draw curiosity from those that fleeted on the outskirts of our music culture. As Kevin has said, in a round about way, the whiole thing about Northern Soul is that it is a dance music culture. In that sense, the dance floor rules, the dancers rule. If they like a tuune it becomes a Northern Soul Hit. Black, White, Japanese... it doesn't matter where the origin relates to.... it's the beat that get's you on the floor, gets your juices flowing and the sweat dripping, its all abou the music. Wigan, to many, may have lost its way because of certain DJ's trying to keep something that was big at the time..."big". You adapt. It's business. There were those who didn't look at the financial gain and concentrated on the music... a certain Richard S. He ALONE and I repeat Alone paved the way for the music we hear now. He moulded the pattern that Stafford, Keele etc would take. He strated introducing the slower paced Soul that would eventuallylead to beat ballads, he championed Modern soul. Without Wigan... who knows where we would be. The old clips are played to death and are far removed from what Wigan had to offer in it's latter days. The early days were a fashion... a fad. The latter end before Richard left were the formative years of what is todays Soul muisc scene. Long live Wigan for what it both did and didn't do. Steve

Just remembered another..... Guys From Uncle "The Spy". A strange but belting instrumental. I used the title as my "handle" when CB's were big only to find out that everyone thought I was a copper... just not so. Steve
  21. Yeah right..... "Fire up the Quattro"
  22. There's an issue on Anglo American for £150. Surely the rarest format. Got a demo with "Stay My Love" on flip and I would have put that about a ton max. My thoughts obviously Best Steve
