A journey to Wigan... Having missed all things going North in the freezing cold January 1974. I got the late train from Wolverhampton which unfortunately changed at Crewe. I had a long delay on Crewe station which meant being real late for Wigan. I was the only long leather trench coated soulster walking through the empty streets of Wigan at approx 3 - 4 am on a freezing winters night with a large suspicious badged grip bag...needless to say I was stopped by the uniformed plod and then later an arriving car load of Squadies.... they pushed me into the doorway of Wakefields and stripped searched yours truly..........all over ...( and I mean ...ALL.. OVER).......... ......but they never searched my long leather trench coat............ ...BEST NIGHT EVER....
