Longest Cover Up 45 Going
Cover-up's a part of the scene (and many others like the Hip-Hop scene) and to my mind should remain. They are a good laff, frustrating and so on and I understand the point re: unissued acetates being covered up as being a bit pointless if there is only the one copy. However, it is also as a means to prolong the life of that 45 by making it harder to locate copies and therefore keeping it 'fresh' for longer. Lokk at other records in the past that were covered up and then when quantity were discovered etc became played out. Besides I can still remember some of the amusing titles and labels that keb amongst others gave them Made me giggle! That's all as I have to get back to 'Sponge Bob Squarepants' with my kids, sorry if it all reads a bit rushed...and just for you Mike

Grapevine Label
Just wanted to add here that IMHO Mr Anderson and Co's Grapevine2000 set-up must rank as one of the strongest UK soul labels ever. Just take a look at the releases to date, all of which I have, not a duff track amongst them and interspread with lesser known, to me anyway, gems. So, a huge pat on the back from me and a huge cow pat in the face for the moaners

Dave Godin
I was sad to hear of the news of Dave's death. I met him at randy's funeral and chatted to him there and in subsequent emails leading up the Southgate memorial event in Randy's memory and found him a warm and gentle man whose outlook on, not only the scene but also life in general, mirrored many of my own beliefs. A fitting gesture Mike having the site closed down in respect on the day of his funeral, there are few people IMHO that would have done the same. I don't think anyone can really document his contribution to the progression and acceptance of BlackAmerican music and culture in this country, so vast and profound has that been. To his family and friends I pass on my sincere condolenses on their loss, his influence and words will be missed. TheBigO

Dome Ii
Just come off the phone with Mr Potts who informs me that the first night under his leadership will now be the 28th January as the 14th would have clashed with the Plinston and he did not want to do that, so top marks to him for 'doing the decent thing'. I also got call from him wanting to confirm our 2005 dates in order that the Dome wouldn't be clashing with other local events. Now why can't everyone do this? Mr G, drop me a line at nh6tsmafia@aol.com as I need to sort you out a spot at the Plinston in the new year otherwise Taff's going to jump on my head!!!! :o

The Great - Not The Merely Mediocre
I loved, and still love, Slade and to my mind ignored for too long by the music press for their contribution to the UK pop world - and they made one of the greatest 'music' movies of all time with 'Flame'.
