One of my co workers has just say Hey Carmen , did you know what the new "In thing" is after you die and burn in the fires of hell ? Your family can have your ashes pressed into plastic to make a 45 or 33 depending on your size I guess ... I was wondering which label would you like to be used on your leaving a legacy record and do you have an actual track you would like ?

Just a reminder for some people who may find this a handy self moderating option ... did you know there is a very handy switch on here to exclude someone's mutterings if you find them too darn awful to suffer and it also helps to as the volumes would say.....maintain your cool Back on topic...Thank you Pete for putting Sean's playlist up I can see from the list of records he played from his heart ( his personal choice) which is always commendable in my book, he must have had so much pleasure playing them which is lovely to see. And to all the others that have defended the right to respect someones choice and not rip them apart for making it .. there is hope !

A good thing to do is to visit the place first before you comit , would it suit your type of play , no point in doing it if you are not comfortable with the environment , because that will show when you play . And don't abuse your customer , if they are not ready to dance you preaching that they should be dancing is not going to help matters.

oh and don't forget to wear a smile ... Its fantastic to see a Dj visiby enjoying himself /herself when they are playing , oh and you might take some spare covers ... I laways manage to lose a cover ? Always if you are a nob twiddler, that includes the playing of LP's to alter speed ,return the settings to as they should be for the next DJ , because they could be totally unaware that you played an LP on one of the decks ... eeem I could add always check the speed settings

carry a spare middle for the records , and a spare light just in case one isn't provided , oh and don't forget your glasses if you wear them ... a don't forget your pistol to shoot anyone that asks you to play some northern

Morning some take more than two boxes , lets take sales , if you are playing and selling quite often you will have sales in a different box , but I take your point , myself I would take one box leaving one hand free to defend myself with my hairspray We are entering the how many records you should take territory .... that could be an explosive debate are you selective according to your taste ?or do you take a massive selection to accommodate requests ? A good investment of 50 pounds is to buy those material type cases that you can carry on your shoulder I guess ? Most have missed the point ...its not about being careless and leaving your property unattended its about looking out for someone that may have a distance to travel to a car park in the early hours when it can get a bit dodgy.

This reminded me of the same feeling that move on up gave ... feel good soul , recall it being massive when we did the Sheridens Ibiza soul week run by Rodz and Chrissie ..whatever happened to them ? ... now who was the Dj that span it ....on the tip of my tongue ....Steve Hanbury !

I too was burgled thankfully my records were left behind , I think theyleft them because they didn't realise they were worth more than everything else , and secondly because the boxes would have given them a hernia or two

I think R&B has lots of sub genres White R&B - Examples Stevie Winward /Tony Joe White Gritty R&B - Jimmy Norman Rockin R&B - Little Willy John Gospal R&B - Patcience Vallentine Modern R&B - Y2K Popcorn - Slow provocative Hideaway R&B - Early years with a blusey influence I think as in all genres there will be some you love and hate , for me personally I can leave out the popcorn in large measures , the odd one is ok

I agree you are responsible to a certain extent , if you leave something unattended of that value then yes you are asking for trouble , but if you have a booking at 3am and need to leave after your spot at 4am , boxes in tow , one in each hand , what if someone jumps you on route or at a car park ? The answer is simple as a community if any of us see a DJ walk to his/her car alone it would be good practice to offer to walk to the car with them ensuring they don't get mugged ..or better still shouldn't a booked DJ have an allocated parking space at the venue ?

It is so sad when you hear stories of people losing their records , and made worse when you see the list off stuff that must have taken years to collect , let alone the money it absorbed to mass such a collection. I do wonder if promoters should make provision to ensure a booked DJ is escorted to their car in the early hours when they have completed their booking. We live in an environment where Djs leave a venue with what must be 10000's of pounds attached to their arms for any opportunist to gain from , guys are getting older , if they have two boxes how do they protect themselves ? so many drunks about in our cities it is a worry someone one day will get pounced on. Not everyone has a minder ...

Can anyone please give me any information about this sound , I love it , I know its a hipcity fave , how easy is it to source ? any history would be welcome I have found out its a flip side of Making it good on pinapple records ... what year was it produced ? Thanks
