Met up with Gigi from the Charmaine’s at her home in the states, she said she sang it first (acetate only) then her husband Herman Lewis got his girlfriend (Andrea) to sing it and released it - Brave man. Gigi said Andria couldn’t sing, couldn’t string three words together. I’d beg to differ. -

I don't normally leave reviews on our own event but after years (and I mean years) of trying to get Andy Rix to do the Boat club for us I think it's worth a mention. Andy did one hour of top quality unissued, one offs, major league rare sounds and could of gone on all night - Total quality start to finish. Andy doesn't do a lot of DJ'ing nowadays but if you ever get the chance to see him then don't miss it. And then it was time for Dave Richard's (Spook) following Andy Rix is no easy task but when you have records like Spook there is nothing to worry about. Well done you two - The Boat team.

Couldn’t answer that one but I do know Chuck Jackson refused to sing WWTL at Prestatyn. Dave Tidswell may be the guy to ask.

Pleased to see you have sold it. I eBayed one 11 years ago. Bidding went mad and it did over 300 but they never paid. Re-listed it and got 150 🤦🏻 but as said that was 11 years ago.

Thought the Lester Tipton deserved more of a mention, such a great record and never fails. So me old mucker John Poole went on his first USA trip with (i think) Gary Rushbrook. He returned with what he thought was the first copy of Lester Tipton + Magnetics - Lady in green etc etc. On his return his next set was at Cleethorpes and he played Lester (twice in his hour as they used to back in the day) This gained instant interest at the decks and one guy said I've got that at home. He was taken aside by Nev Wherry and a deal was struck probably including a packet of Trebor/Polo mints. Nev's copy went on to have a story of its own but I'm not getting into that one,

Our event last night had be over 3k view on SS. We normal get about 1k. So I checked out some other events and they’re the same. One that normally gets 200-300 views also had over 3k. Regards - Mick

I asked Don Gardner to sign the B side of my copy of “Is this really love”. He pulled out from his pocket a big fat pen turned it over and wrecked it. So what I was lucky to be in the presence of such a fine man.

Also at Prestatyn, Rita Graham told us she never met the Tiaras. The track and backing vocals had all been done prior (for Gloria Jones I’d presume)

Can’t guarantee it was my 1st but if not very close. Sam & Kitty £1 on my 17 birthday at the casino 4th anniversary 1977 - Still got it. 1st original epitome of sound £4 Notts Palis same year - still got it.

Always listen out for the backing singers for some reason. I thought they had a cushy day on a "Thousand Wounders" - TSU Tornadoes as they do virtually nothing (great track though) Then we have Eddie Holland - Daydreamer where the backing singers are even asking questions to which he replies.
