  1. Try as people might, this music will never remain underground as much as it was back in the day of the Torch, Wheel etc. because it's too good to stay underground. New people hear it and like it, buy it and dance to it, go out to hear it and like it more. y'know, like we once did and still do.
  2. In Fact!! The actual travesty of the Brits, was that 'Prince' only presented an award??? I thought we may have been treated to a surprise performance later on in the show?
  3. Wouldn't matter if she wore clown shoes and a parachute, she'd still look amazing :-)
  4. and JJ Barnes - Talk of the Grapevine - Great track it is too.
  5. I won't put it up here I'll be banned instantly
  6. All bets are off, it is!!
  7. I'd have a quick peek to make sure she wears it well
  8. Well she has done a version of 'Time will pass you by', so nothing is impossible, God forbid she re-releases it in line with the Northern uprising, it was shit!!!
  9. Yeah me too Alison, the best artist music wise for years, and I don't think it will damage the scene either, yesterday papers n all that. It'll all be forgotten in a week and the scene will carry on regardless.
  10. Yes I have just been informed that she was there on stage. In my opinion too, I think it was a good piece, good dancers, a bit over the top dress wise, but the track is excellent although a bit Marmite. Good show!!
  11. Just watched the Pharrell Williams performance on the 'Brits' with the Manchester Dolls Northern Soul Dancers on stage with him and Nile Rodgers. I wait with bated breath!
  12. I like it!! As a new recording and release I think it's decent. No not Northern, but everything doesn't have to be, does it?
  13. Thank you Soulcool, I don't have to explain my Soul Heaven thanks to your post :-). I like to refer to the 'Leeds Central' as 'Heaven Underground' and your comments have made me a very proud man. Although I must say that first time I went to the 'Torch' it was blown away time, when the doors opened to go in and the heat, music and atmosphere combined to send a ball of pleasure big enough to knock you for six, Ah!! the memories!
  14. All these points beg the question. If this record (WSOT) had been found in a pile of old records in Detroit in a 1 cent box in a back street junk shop, and it was actually nothing to do with Ian Levine & Steve Bernstien, and hadn't been ready made for the NS market to fool people. Would it get played by the big guns as a rare Northern Soul record and be worth lots of money?
  15. Yes, one funny incident. As we know VaVa's had a lot of perspex partitions within, and I remember watching a guy lean back thinking there was a partition behind him, and falling flat on his back. LOL, Funny at the time, but not for the person in question.
  16. I know there has a lot of bad things been said about Mr Levine, but when I used to go to the Mecca, along with the other DJs there such as Colin Curtis and the like, he was one of the Gods to the people who travelled many miles to listen to their music. We weren't bothered what they were, all we knew back then is that they played the tunes that we wanted to hear. Also when I first heard 'Solid Ground' I honestly had no idea whatsoever that is was a Levine production, and loved it from the word go. I wasn't made aware that it was his until a friend of mine handed me a Levine productions CD with it on. Which just proves to me anyway, if you hear a tune and you like it, and it works, it doesn't matter who it is by, and to some, finding out who it is by, fires up the discrimination. Also, although the majority was shite, Mr Levine was largely responsible for the 'High Energy' scene. As I say, shite in the whole (with a couple of exceptions) but massive in it's day to millions of clubbers worldwide. Just my opinion
  17. So what are the thoughts on 'Solid ground'? again Levine penned and produced.

  19. I haven't had this problem, I have listed on eBay for 11 years, all I can imagine is that you have got your settings set so that your preffered eBay site is in the US and not the UK. In your setting you need to tick the box that states 'I list in more than one country' I have found that the best way to list is using an eBay tool called 'Turbo Lister', it's free and let's you design your listings offline, and then upload them when you're ready.
  20. A method used regularly by scratchers, I wonder??
