  1. Stayin on the same title, what would this be worth on the multicoloured wand label?
  2. Well just had to buy the Grapevine copy, from a guy in France for £12.99. I think the 'EH' version is excellent and the inst' in on the 'B' side too I believe so bonus!
  3. What is the 'better' one on Marc? do you have a link to a soundbyte?
  4. Actually interesting that is say's (RE) at the side of it? Imagining that means Re-Release, in turn meaning that it has been release perviously? Which begs the question when, and what on?
  5. Love albums, always have, good value for money and sometimes, unless you have a few grand to spare, the only way of getting hold of many tracks. I would far prefer to buy an original album with a track on that I want, then to buy a 7" bootleg Other good thing is that many times you get the full mixes rather than the watered down ones that get released on some 7".
  6. So I take it from comments that the only way to get this is on 'Grapevine' then? Was hoping it might be an unreleased album track, Shame!
  7. Wonder where it came from originally then? Master tape maybe? def' can't see it on any of his albums.
  8. Solomon King-This Beautiful Day-UK Columbia on eBay now https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310812173614?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  9. As an alternative to the Larry Clinton monster, I quite like the Eddie Holman version of 'She's wanted' Does anyone know the origins of this version? Was it an album only track or was it released on 7" before the 'Grapevine' release? and if so what label? Thanks
  10. Just followed the original link for the seller and he/she has now nothing for sale. Sorry just read earlier post.
  11. I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this yet, in my humble opinion the next best they did to 'The Night'. Think it did get plays too back in the day, probably the Mecca? Frankie Valli - Touch the rainchild https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6cvQAa7dcg
  12. Todays letter box candy
  13. I think that most of the dissing and putting down of the Casino, is mainly from people who either never want, OR by people who had experienced different earlier venues, such as the Wheel or the Torch, and have trouble likening or comparing the Casino with those ( 'Chasing the dragon'). The usual case scenario is that the first place you went to was the best in your opinion. I went to the Torch, that was my first, and it was AMAZING! The the Casino was next, and that was AMAZING too. In my opinion The casino was magic, I had some brilliant times there, met some life long friends, and danced for a 1000 hours, never to be forgotten as long as I live, and I am proud that I was one of the lucky ones that danced those boards.
  14. Any older Yorkshire folk remember this? I know I did it but can't remember what year? Probably mid 70s? You tell me!
  15. Is this what this is going for now? Wally Cox - This Man - US Wand $137? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Northern-Soul-45-WALLY-COX-This-Man-WAND-HEAR-/350925091296?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item51b4c3f1e0&autorefresh=true
  16. I have owned and ran 4 record shops in my time, The first one I learned my my mistakes after borrowning 30K from the bank, no need to have done at all, Rent, rates and service charge prices saw the end of that one after 6 years. Second one I literally opened for £1500, that included decorating and fitting it out. The stock I advertised for before opening and when I had enough stock to open it I did. That lasted for another 5 and a half years. Not wanting to renew the lease of that one I opened another one, again very much on the cheap lasting another 6 years. The 4th one I just managed someone elses shop for 2 and a half years. My point is, if you have the balls to open a record shop these days, it doesn't need a a fortune to do it. It would take a brave person to do it in these times, but saying that, vinyl is making a huge comeback, but not enough at the moment to take a risk. Best doing it onlne to avoid overheads etc. Saying that, I would rather dig crates anyday than browse through a load of online lists.

  20. Yeah just looks funny today to see those prices, just like looking at 40 year old mailing lists. Makes you wish you had had more insight into future prices back in the day.
  21. Had to put this up. This is the inside cover of a P.P.Arnold record. It was released in 1980. It was the last paragraph that made me chuckle! Click on the image to enlarge!
  22. Hi Roy, hope you're well. The Central IS a 400 capacity, next time I'm down there I will take a piccy of the legal capacity plate on the inside of the main entrance. Granted you'd struggle to have 400 in a Northern event there as so much space is needed for dancing. but they regularly hit capacity and more for other less space demanding events that they hold there. Also Malc Burton and been in touch with Chris Burton and these are apparently the legit figures: Quote Malc Burton: Spoke with Chris Burton yesterday, and he confirmed that the licenced capacity of The Torch was 650, and most weeks at the height of its' success, there was usually 500-600 in. The attendance for Major Lance was 1,262.
