It's a gold re-press, 70s, last one on eBay sold for £76. Obviously it's because the record is heavily featured in the 'Northern Soul' movie, and folk are buying it because they don't know originals from boots. I have the same copy and was stunned when it went for £76, now I'm even more stunned that it's sold for this price. The world has gone mad. Oh! and yes the gold one is excellent quality.

Also on Orange SPQR 70s, with same track on both sides. Amazing what you find, after all these years I didn't realise that the B side of the orange copy had the instrumental by 'The church st. gang

No, not a live version, looking at the credits again it says 'recorded at Tropicana studios London' so Ian must have re-recorded it.

Excellent and thanks, on looking at the small print (credits) it does say 'Produced by Ian Levine and Clive Scott for Tropicana Holdings'. As you say Pete he must have got permission to use the Okeh label. Not that much difference between this and the Vonettes version tbh, and not a typical Levine production really, still sounds old, so a good cheap alternative.
