This much-lauded event promises an evening steeped in soul music heritage, spanning the very best in rare 60’s, 70’s, and Modern Soul — all delivered across two rooms of top-quality sounds.

Headlining this celebration of soul are special guests Soul Sam and Billy ‘Birthday Boy’ Mailey, two names synonymous with passion, energy, and authenticity in the UK soul scene. They’ll be joined by an outstanding lineup of DJs including Steve Plumb, Baz Maleedy, Simon Ingham, Mick Howard, Charlie Smith, Nick McKinnon, Bill Wildman, and Pete Ratcliffe. Off the back of ' Our Bazza's ' set at east lancs ' twinny ' Ashton Uky, it's all systems go in expectation of another cracking night at CVH. The quality and turnover of music past and present is always second to none, nonemoreso than the early doors session featuring Mine Host's crate digging selections which always throw up some sublime and unobvious platters, forgotten, underplayed, under valued or ridiculously rare!. The same can be applied to the other 9 lives in the room, all with amazing extensive catalogues of tunes that provide food for thought as well as a perfect opportunity to give the legs n feet a good workout on the dancefloor!.

What's not to like and look forward to?😉👍

I should play this in the spirit of Lowton. I remember being the 1st person to play it there, after purchasing from Steve Connor for a ridiculous low price.

Have to admit Bob, didn't realise there was what i presume is a first take/alternate take...sounds pretty raw rnb...great tune regardless and probably gone through at least 3 copies here👍

Billy don't let Andrew put you off giving The Tropics a spin, he doesn't know what he's talking about.😂boxingshhh

If I'm not mistaken a former Butch spin that still sounds great.

So any Casino affectionados may remember this little ditty? Well that's not the reason for posting it here, it's the fact that CULCHETH resident Simon Ingham has started to feature the nice cheap 'B' side, 'I'm Hung Up On A Dream' in his sets and believe you, me it sounds right for today's (non-top 500) scene...Nice one Si and even better cause I had one on the shelves thumbsup

Here’s one that’s just found its way into SOUL SAM’s play box. A true rarity that probably suffered lack of exposure due to that fact. Originally a Mecca spin that was never picked up at Wigan, again, probably due to its rarity but if it had WOW! can you imagine this bouncing off the Station Road walls…

OK we may have ‘missed’ it back then but no longer! Full Tilt guaranteed this Saturday at CULCHETH! Thanks SAM, can’t wait!...

Baz, It must have been discovered after 1975 or I'm sure Ian Levine would have included it on his wonderful Sceptre/Wand Solid Soul Sensations compilation LP for Pye.

That's a fair assumption Bob, probably the same applies to The Ivories 'Please Stay' or even Earl Harrison 'Humphrey Stomp' which was also a little known Wand release until later years

Here's one from our very own, CULCHETH Modern Room resident, CHARLIE SMITH
