MEMBERS? (if thats OK), The Question was;- Is there a KNACK to DJ-ing ? (& playing Northern Soul) or is it simply a case of playing One Record after an Other? My personal Question is "WHAT MAKE'S A GOOD NORTHERN SOUL DJ"? HOW CAN A DJ GET ON STAGE / BEHIND DECKS & ENTERTAIN A CROWD? Especially A crowd Made up of every Different Styles Of "SOUL" fan(s)? Anyone CAN "Hit & Miss" for an Hour or So, How or What Gets A Hold Of A crowd & Keeps Them On The Dancefloor? Simple Question(s). . Or "Tricks of the Trade" ? Is There Anyone Out There Who'd Like To Share Tip's ? Do's & Don'ts ? concerning DJ-ing!!! Obviously, 1/ Having A "Great" record collection, 2/ Having A "Rep"??? 3/ Knowing your Crowd? July 28, 200519 yr I agree.....it is inexcusable for a DJ who is paid with punter's money to spend all night in a record bar then nip out 5 minutes before he's on and play repeats Its been a bit quiet on SS this week, so I'll ask this: Does anyone else think it tends to be the old guard, "name" Djs, who are most guilty of this? link Not necessarily, I would say it has happened more at venues I have attended within the last couple of years than it did before.... but as was said before, there are more 'DJ's around now. We want to be careful, we might end up with a scene full of DJ's and no dancers! My God that would be soooooooo boring! My turn........ Get off it's my turn! LOL
