This is off a UK Doctor Bird 45 and I know I sold it to someone on here and I think I remember who...not saying this is great or anything but that there's a lot of this sort of thing waiting around to be found

.....................

Id rather hear this kinda stuff at northern do's instead of r'n'b any night of the week.

................

Totally agree with this Remus

Been harping on about some of the stuff mentioned here for a while to people in East Mids and done couple of cds which went down quite well. fully intend to play JA covers of stuff like "Too Late To Turn Back Now" , "Show ad Tell" and phyllis dillons - "One Life to live" aka Sheila anthony - "livin in love", at a do just before xmas, only early spot, but will give a chance for people to hear something other than RnB.

now, is anyone gonna sell me Derrick Harriots -"the loser" so i can play that!!!!

I played Too Late To Turn Back Now at the Studio 1 club fortnight ago - Alton Ellis...sadly I don't play my copy of The Loser out because it sounds like frying bacon at the start, just needed it on UK Island though

See what you think of this - very soulful rocksteady harmony - I paid a lot for this, about £80 but I've seen it go for double that - Johnny & The Attractions on Doctor Bird

love to get over one day to hear you there Pete, think i would enjoy it.

think people wll accept "covers" rather than original stuff to start with, different versions of something they know as opposed to something totally new, bring them on slowly

my "Loser" is on a 12" and redone, better than nothing i suppose.

See if you can get a record called "Sesame Street" Ste, by Scotty on Songbird - it's the DJ version of Loser but it has the instrumental on the B side complete with chorus vocals intact - it's brilliant and good for a bit of karaoke. I sold my spare on ebay last week unfortunately.

See what you think of this, bit of Studio One magic

What is this one Pete,I really like it?

No I haven't heard that Andy - 70's?

The LP`s from 1980 and is mainly soul, but " Island Girl " has huge reggae influence to it.

Just when I thought I'd heard it all, this comes along. I've been transferring evrything onto the pc and I found this, I don't remember ever hearing it before or ever even having known it existed; it's a very well known track but completely different...stopped me in my tracks!

I recently bought a Trojan records box set of Jamaican RnB, features quite a lot of tracks by The Blues Busters who I think have a soulful sound. The first track of theirs that I heard (not on this box set) just blew me away: 'Soon you will be gone', incredibly soulful!

Have played this on my occasional forays into 'other' sorts of nights, people always think it's an 'old' song, got to say it is well put together with the backing... think her other stuff is more dancey though swoon.gif
