September 24, 201014 yr On a more serious note: there' no hard stats in the article about the growing number of vinyl records pressed, so I'm still a bit sceptical...
September 24, 201014 yr in the polls of 2006/7 vinyl sales were up by a staggering 80%, although these figures were hugely due to Indie and D&B artists preferring to press predominantly on vinyl. These types of bands still prefer vinyl pressing so the figures may still be in this region in 2010 taking into account that the popularity of D&B and Dubstep (which is a predominantly vinyl scene) has rocketed within the last 2 years. By the way, this article was printed over a year ago too Article Mail on Sunday Edited September 24, 201014 yr by steveluigi
September 25, 201014 yr There was this mid-week article (22/09) on vinyl in the New York Times: Those Popular Vinyl Records Edited September 25, 201014 yr by rigilbert
September 25, 201014 yr Vinyl never dies but sadly to a lot of styles it don't sell. Indie music is one of the biggest sellers with bands who like to release on vinyl and CD. i buy on vinyl if i can.
September 25, 201014 yr According to this article, turntables actually outsold CD players this year, with 77,400 turntables sold against 41,400 Cd decks. The article is at the end of the page so you will need to scroll down to read it.
