Am new to this forum, just a quick question. How do you get a fair price for records that you dont know what their current value is. Looking to get rid of some I bought in the late 70s early 80s, got a mixture of 45s english,us imports and LPs. Is it worth trying E-bay or any of the soul sites that auction records.

If you don't know what their current value is how would you decide what a fair price is?

Get a price guide (deduct 15-30% although some are miles out - lower and higher) and do some online research. Either that or stick them all on ebay with a low start and they will find their level (usually).

At the moment it seems to be easier to buy than sell.

Quite often people post on here asking for values/going rates for records. So you could just post up a list (including details such as condition, original/reissue, etc.,) on here asking for values. There's always someone willing to answer and post up values. This is normally followed by another poster contradicting those values first supplied .

it will be tricky if you don't at least have a feel for what they should be worth.
