The label is A&B records from Los Angeles and it's produced by Alexander Patton which is also the owner, or co-owner of the label, but I don't know anything about Pam Kellum..anyone? Who is she, where is she from..?

I'm pretty sure that this is more in demand for the flip 'Long Hot Summer'. I don't know anything about the singer but she sounds white to my ears. Stunning label design.

The name is kinda "blaxploitation" IMO, so it might be a more "known" soul sister? I think it's only two 45s on this label, Buddy Ace is the other one.

found it tommy, will clip it up tomorrow so you can have a listen got it from beaver a few years ago, been on the lookout for a better copy ever since but as the label is exactly the same as the shorter version there's no way of telling unless you hear it

Not the same! Different intro and longer...why?

So I've got some info about her;

I asked if Pam Kellum was a possible pseudonym for a known vocalist, and no, that's her real name.

She hails from Long Beach, CA and was born there, so no transplant from another state....she's lived there all her life.

She's a black vocalist and I'm working on finding out any further discography as a lead or backing singer, so I'll update with any further news as and when.

Hello-  I have a little information about this Song. I was the guitarist on this track which was recorded, I believe, in 1972. The band I was in at the time "Street Hustle" was in Long Beach and Mr. Patton saw us in a club there and wanted to be our producer. Pam Kellum, a very talented young lady probably no more than 19 at the time was one of his artists. He asked some of the members of my band to back up Pam in a couple of Recording sessions. I don't remember how many songs we cut - I think this one - what you see you can't get-  and one called (It's gonna be) A Long Hot Summer. I can even remember the guitar I was playing in this recording; it was a 1971 new model of  the Gibson Les Paul called a 'Recording  model' with the option of low or high impedence in the design of the pickups. I traded a really nice Gibson ES335 for this guitar.  I don't know wha became of Pam Kellum as I left the music business after this to pursue other interests.  I would like to find out if she kept at it as she had tremendous talent.  Does anyone know if Alexander Patton, the producer and writer of this track is still around?  Also, back then I went by the name of 'Jack' rather than my baptismal name, John,  which I use now.

John,  Alexander was certainly around in the 2000's, he appeared at one of the Soultrip Conventions, I think it was the Los Angeles one.  If you look for a guy on here called Kev Roberts he may even be able to tell you of his whereabouts now.  Kev's user name is thegolden101 I think.
