Posted August 16, 201113 yr I was just looking thru popsike pricing some records and was more than a little suprised to se this! https://www.popsike.com/The-INVITATIONS-Lets-Love-70s-NORTHERN-SOUL-45-Listen/230345603871.html Which side is it collectable for, whats the correct value, why did it fetch so much? TIA Chris
August 16, 201113 yr this is a regular in my ten quid box in fact I bought one at measham carboot the other day for ten bob regards Simon.
August 16, 201113 yr more collectable if it has the b side....love has to grow, still only a 25 quid touch at that, UK or US Copy
August 16, 201113 yr Author Yeah the side on the demo copy is just a deep slow thing..the other side on the demo is much better, midpaced crossover style. Simon, good to see Measham car boot is still going strong mate! Cheers, chris
August 16, 201113 yr I'd say the popsike result is either a couple of snipes gone wrong or a series of malicious bids as this is only a ten quidder in that format.
August 16, 201113 yr you all are wrong ... it's actually collectible because it's a promo and has a long version on one side. much rarer in that format. i think it was a bidding war between japanese bidders on that one but i've seen another promo go for like ~$300

August 16, 201113 yr Thank's for that next one will be fifty quid then regards Simon. if you have a promo with the long version i will give you 50 quid, for my collection, not for resale. I personally wouldn't pay more than that though.

August 16, 201113 yr Hmmm I have demo and issue. well I'll give you 50 quid if it has the long version on it
August 16, 201113 yr well I'll give you 50 quid if it has the long version on it I've certainly had a few of these and as I say got one from the local car boot for ten bob this was an English on but sold to John Lawson I'll see if I have one in the stock room but if you get sorted befor no worries regards Simon.

August 16, 201113 yr Do recall we had a thread on this one a while back when that ebay went through??
August 16, 201113 yr Author Think I have a demo too, probably used as a door stop in the record room... Now, lets see the rush to get these "rare" demos on ebay! I must say, there was another demo copy that had gone thru at $90. Chris

August 16, 201113 yr I take what Bob's saying about the longer version with the spoken passage giving the record an added dimension of collectability but that popsike result is still an anomaly to me. Over five hundred dollars is way over the top.
August 17, 201113 yr I take what Bob's saying about the longer version with the spoken passage giving the record an added dimension of collectability but that popsike result is still an anomaly to me. Over five hundred dollars is way over the top. I agree, I think some long time collectors will pay for the number and not the quality though. I recently got a copy of the rarer regal dewy 45, stock with the flip. I was super psyched because I got it cheap and it always went for a lot on ebay, like $200 or something like that. It was terrible.
November 27, 201113 yr so apparently it probably was a fluke since i just won a copy for $10. Although I have won some very expensive records for $10 so who knows.
November 27, 201113 yr Discussed back in 2009 ... sold mine for $94 inc postage Mike Edited November 27, 201113 yr by Mike Lofthouse
November 27, 201113 yr Discussed back in 2009 ... sold mine for $94 inc postage Mike thanks, I had not seen the earlier thread. Either way, I didn't think it was a total fluke at $500 but rather that it's a very specialized market item and two bidders who need a copy have to see it at the same time to get any money for it. That's less likely to happen than for an in-demand item.
