Apologies if I have asked this one before, but can anyone tell me anything about the artist Jason Steel who recorded a couple of records for M-S records:

Jason - Clear Eyes/I Can't Take It No More (M-S #228)

Jason Steel - You Know Your Breaking My Heart/Suppose (M-S #233)

Apparently the recording studio (on M-S228) is/was under the Pampa Lanes Bowling Alley, Van Dyke in Warren, Jim Bruzzese was the owner.

Not bad at all. With a ZTSC number so late, I expected a '70s sound. But, it sounds like about 1968 or 1969. I've never seen it before, despite looking through hundreds of thousands of 45s in Chicago and Detroit in the late '60s and 1970-early 1972.

Yes, I like it Robb - glad you do too.

Blue eyed I think - especially going by the sound of the other (earlier) M-S release under the name 'Jason' which had a more mainstream sound.

I would even go as far as to say 'You Know Your Breaking My Heart' sounds quite 'crossover' - whatever that is

He also recorded a very rare Modern Soul 45 with only a very few known copies. My copy copy got nicked in November, so if a copy turns up, PM me here please

Is this the same Jason on Antler Records "Broadway Concrete"/"Woman Ease my Mind" ?

There are at least 5 x 45's total and there is an LP on the JSB label from 1973. He's a white singer and the selections on the LP are very contemporary. I don't see the JSB single on it so it's non LP. Judging by the label number the JSB single is from 1976. Some local musicians on the lp are: Earl Van Dyke (keyboards and rhythm arrangement). Bruce Nazarian (bass rhythm and lead guitar) Jim Bruzzese (Drums) Larry Nozero (flute on one track)

And I Love Her / Vanilla Ice Cream 74-103
