Punchy drum, horns, a subtle Mike Terry style saxophone purrs away with the constant jingling vibes; The intensive rhythm is then alleviated by perhaps Motown greatest ever SAX BREAK! What a tune - on the back of a classic too.

This rare DEMO is in fine condition but do scrutinize the A-side label scan there is a faded time of 2.38 and RAM written on the centerpiece, almost invisible. The rest of the disc is flawless.

I recently had the honor of DJing at the "Copper Tops Club" in Worcester.

As I walked in, spinning on the decks was no ordinary "heard a 1000 times" Northern Soul oldie but to buzzing dancefloor - Ronnie McNeir's - Isn't She A Pretty Girl - was resounding around the heated atmosphere.

An imaginative flipside spin from time-served DJ John Farrar. How good did this sound through those imposing speakers...I knew I was in for a good night.

But if you play the a-side the really unforgettable nights, those branded in your memory forever flash before your eyes. The school bell rings and Cleethorpes Pier shakes as Soul Sam fingers twitch erratically over the console controls, a quiver n' shake of the arms, a swing of the hips - and Soul Sam is doing his now famous "top-half" DJ-dancing, only reserved for the vinyl-magnificent.

This Detroit double helping of Northern Soul does magnificent twice over.

and this copy is Mint - totally flawless in every respect!

Now residing only in the most-complete and finest of Northern Soul collections is this truly exceptional and ridiculously rare 45. Leaving us to ponder of the heights it could have reached if the "outlaw" in L.A. had been a little more patient.

In fact very rare both sides of the Atlantic. It's 1966 Memphis Goldwax release is considered one of this iconic label's jewels. Top side epitomizes the city's SOUL with a haunting horn and organ driven Deep Soul ballad of the highest quality - the session paints a vivid picture of a departing soldier aching with love.

Flip rips it up raw - again featuring Memphis horns cradle Eddie's finely tuned vocal, a Bluff City Northern Soul stroller featuring a killer sax break and a fluid vocal-group chorus.

On Goldwax this is one tough 45 to acquire - on 1966 UK Stateside in flawless condition it is.. beyond-tough!

This Robert L. Martin creation started life as a mysterious Wigan Casino secret sound for Richard Searling, who not for the first time used the writers name for his intriguing NS teasers; ie "Eddie Jason" for The Wakefield Sun monster.

Richard Searling certainly added mystic as well as quality to his sets of carefully selected spins.

This Philly flipside just spews everything the Casino was at it's height! An instant dance-inciting experience as Bobby Martin flexes his studio skills crafting relentless Northern Soul,filled with all the ingredients Bobby would use on his multitude of his Philadelphia session.

This example for me, is his ""pi¨ce de rsistance".

Such was the demand the bootleggers combed theUSA for a copy - there is NO USA 45 release. So they used Bobby Goldsboro's USA United Artist 91024 "Blue Autumn" lp track - wrong again it's a wishy-washy inferior version.

So, even after that ridiculous bootleg Nev with his signature smile spun his Green & White 1967 UK DEMO it became Cleethorpes & Wigan Casino monster.

a big nut case has paid £500 for SOLOMON BURKE a £40 pounds record EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK not even rare or very good.

We just need to remember that these are auctions and anything can happen. What I hate is the day after when someone else puts one of the auction items up for set sale at the same price as the auction. Most auction prices end at double the 'real' price.

it was his biggest hit, wasn't it? I think it's a pretty good song. Obviously many copies were sold and promoed though.

Sold a solomon Burke a few weeks ago for a tenner this had been in my ten quid box for age's no one ever commented on it or looked at it it had sat there for well over a year and had gone to loads of soul night's , nighters and weekenders without intrest but there you go boy's.
