I’ve just decided I want to be a DJ on the Northern scene. As anyone got any tips on how to start out, aside starting my own do? What would you say are the quintessential DJ ingredients for a new kid on the block? Great collection, or a couple of dozen mega rare 45’s. 60’s, 70’s or both? Do you have to earn your stripes or kiss the right backsides?

Sixties sounding thing, shouty backing ... Been around year's ... But got a few spins recently.

i think if it wasn't for R'n'B you wouldn't be listening to what you do ..... it's the building blocks of the music and (in scotland anyway)is attracting the younger generation . is that a bad thing .

not just saying this but in MY honest opinion good quality gritty r'n'b is the way forward , hence the reason why i don't dj at soul do's very often anymore and run an R'n'B night , it's what i love with a passion
