Trying to get some info on this....

Athens rogues: I read this probably first appeared on a Gary Spencer tape in the early 90's as a c/u - can anyone remember the c/u artist and title? Also who played it first out - Gary? Pat Brady been mentioned but need confirmation.

Off top of my head it was covered up as the Vondells by Gary.

Funny this has come up I was just writing a description on this 45 for the website and I can confirm Chalky is right it was the Vondells.

Who played first I have no idea. Love or hate it, not bad for a bunch of white college kids.

I'm sure they are mentioned in the 'Heey baby days book' that Beach scene book. Obviously not in connection with their popularity on the Northern soul scene, but tells you who they were and all that...

Yeh came across that myself, nIce piece. I know Stop was primarily a country label but other than the Rogues and the Berkshire Seven, anybody come across any other releases of interest to us lot? Think there was some femme thing in it that came up a while ago but can't remember if it was any good,

Obviously the same label but doesn't fit in with the numbering system in R&B Indies, intact I can't see it in R&B Indies.

remember from an old fanzine review from the late 80s ,a mention in an allnighter review [mansfield i think,carnt remember exactly,will try and dig it out] that butch was playing a vondells c/up was that the athen rouges????
