Yip your spot on there mate Big John Clements ( Clemmy ) was a Liverpool fan and along with myself Peety, Don Rowley and several other Soulies / skinheads from Leigh where friendley with a few of the Kirkby crew Franny Lawler, Alan Hardman ect , Don Rowley and his brother Frank where Man Utd fans we use to travel all over watching Leigh Rugby and Liverpool FC in the early 70,s i remember Peety Alan Hardman , Franny Lawler livin down in Gates for a short time and gettin into a few scrapes down there Still see Clemmy now n again see Don all the time Peety lives down in Essex and as just done a sponsered walk from Essex to Leigh Lancs and only last month Alan Hardman got in touch with me on face book after all these years and i met up with him again what memories we had really mad ones i can tell you it would make a great film

Yes I think it was pretty wild back in those days and those lads from Kirby/Leigh fitted in well with the Gateshead boys as they were as daft as we were. The Geordies and the Scousers mainly got on pretty well anyway - I remember the 74 cup final when we got hammered 3-0 - there was a bit of trouble early in the morning but rest of the day/night the pubs were full of Geordies and Scousers drinking and singing together.
