Once again I never authorized any of the Mixed Emotions recordings to be
sold to the General public, that is why all of the recordngs from 1975
until this day are BOOTLEGS.

From the above statement what I gather Elijah Cole is saying is that only the current release which he is selling via ebay is an Original released 45 as the others were a Private Press, which he used for family and promotion to record companies to get a bigger deal.
Taking this a step further, from what I have been told the Frederick Hymes was never sold in shops, but sold only at his live shows, again a private press.
I have worked with numerous artists in working mens clubs and holiday camps who did similar thing and they are still doing it today.
So were do we stand on a PRIVATE PRESS, do we class it as the ORIGINAL, what if later it does become available commercially in the shops or on-line is that not the original release?
Please remember a PRIVATE PRESS is different from a DEMO, demo's were the Label's property were as a PRIVATE PRESS is the artist's property.
This will no doubt set us all off on a rant.
