Is this a scarce 45 or very well known? Popsike doesn't show many coming up for sale on ebay, but, as we know, Popsike doesn't tell the full story. It seems to be a very reasonably priced record looking at the values achieved.

Both sides of the 45 are posted on youtube, sadly in very low quality, and the fellow who has posted states -

"The Contact label was affiliated with Consolidated One-Stop at 1448 Mississippi Blvd in South Memphis. The 864 Kerr Avenue address on the label of this 45 was another door that faced Kerr in the same building, which I always suspected was full of old records. Unfortunately the building burned a few weeks ago in an arson fire."

Anyone have any more info on the artist or label?

Apparently they had no knowledge that Barry Despenza operated a yellow-coloured Contact Records spewing out Soul records in Chicago around the same time.

The track was produced by Chicago Heights DJ Buddy Beason & it was mentioned in Billboard mag (as a new release) in mid October 1970.

Another 45 due out then on Contact was from (11 yr old) Little Tyrone (Jones) -- "I Wonder What The World Would be Like if Kids Ruled the World" and a gospel 45 by Samuel Sanders & the M&N Singers was also ready to be issued.

Can't find much on Buddy Beason but I guess he was a DJ on WMPP (or WCGO).

I have the above mentioned titles, i got a small handfull of the price (pryce) 45 some years ago and think it has something.will have to check but feel i have some more titles from the logo,white label and yellow label i sourced all in memphis.

Thanks for the information thus far. I've noticed one of the records listed on Popsike mentions The Consolidated Group, which this Contact label is part of, was Earl Cage's. If this is correct it opens an avenue to explore and there's lot's of info regarding Earl as a Memphis based writer and producer.
