Not sure if this is 100% correct but- here goes. It was originally released on Coed #600 in 1965. The label went out of business that same year.

Later released (1969?) as the Love Potion on TCB #1601 and when it started selling again got picked up by Kapp and released as Kapp #979.

I don't believe that the CRASH for the Joy-Tones or the TCB for the Love Potion are legit issues as often presented as first label or local issues predating the Coed or Kapp release. I would rather think that they are bootlegs. The song is so good and always had a club cult status in some circles. It was even release (without any deal) in Jamaica. post-19710-0-13729600-1366037033_thumb.p

My understanding is that the Joy-Tones on Coed is first but the story goes that Coed records was to cease all activity afterward and so didn't  promote it better as it should have been.

To supply the street demand, it was then booted on Crash. post-19710-0-54018000-1366036697_thumb.p

Then by 1969, it was given a second a second try as the Love Potion on Kapp and this was then booted on TCB.
