No we had our own version in the early 80s' pretty lame and not the same show as Don Cornelius's one, and yes Box set was issued, but it misses some of the best acts and concerntrates on major names. Should be easy to find though......Steve

The proper Soul Train was definitely shown over here in the early days of Channel 4, I probably haven't got them now but I used to have a few shows taped which someone swapped me, they weren't current shows though, they were 70's ones, I distinctly remember Little Anthony and Sly Stone being on there.

The box set is ok if you like adverts for hair products every 5 minutes.

Correct.  One of my early dvd compilations has some of this footage on, I might still have one.

The UK one had Loose Ends, Jeffrey Daniel, Salt N Peppa, Imagination, the latest Hi Energy "poop" etc. .....Oh and the yummy Shirley Brown! Still have her appearance on VHS tape somewhere.

Right, vaguely remember this, but definitely not the one I"m talking about which was definitely the real thing.

Was Soul Train ever on TV in the UK?

I am convinced it used to be on at tea-time in the early 70's

Did any DVD box set type stuff ever get issued?

I applied for the presenters job on the UK version. Still got my rejection letter somewhere. Somehow don't think I had the right complexion :D

and she performed the full 6 minute plus version....no awkward fade out half way through

How are you Mike? Pm me mate.
