I don't watch either the UK or US versions of this show (too much dross) but this 54 year old US contestant certainly can ssssaang ...........

Been a few excellent singers on US talent shows

 

Alice Tan Ridley sister of Roger Ridley. Had one excellent deep soul 45 out in the mid 60s as Roger & the Ridley Sisters on Del-Pat "Morning, Noon, I Cry". Lots of her subway clips on the tube .. wonderful stuff

I don't watch these shows as a rule (I do sometimes but always switch off at the first sign of a cringefest lol)

 

I didn't think it was for people who have had records out in the past? I'm sure SC said that to someone on the UK show
